On the way down to Dunedin, we stopped at Oamaru where there is limestone, and it is one town in NZ built of stone - a lovely pale colour. We have recognised the same stone in buildings in Dunedin. Oaramu is also famous for 2 types of penguin, small blue and yellow eyed. We went to both colonies - of course- and saw some of each. A good evening's entertainment, watching come back to their burrows after a day at sea. Then, a little further south, we stopped to see the famous Moeraki boulders, round stones on the beach, that have been washed out of the cliffs.

Trying out the penny farthing, Oaramu is very Victorian, the grand buildings date from then.

because you need 5 motor bike riders to lift you out again. Poor Honda, but it seemed OK after its ill treatment. So no worries Leigh!!!

far from the madding crowds. Actually, just along the road from the boulders, but there was no cafe here, so no people! Lovely little beach and harbour though.
