Well I got back to New Zealand without any plane crashes or highjackings. Every country I go through there are no problems at immigration at all, but as usual when I come back into my own country I'm closely questioned regarding my reasons for my travels, then I get pulled out of the declaration lines and interrogated further and get my details checked to make sure I am who I say I am, then get my bags searched. "Are you carrying any illegal items?" they ask. What do they expect people to answer? "Um yes officer, some heroin, a sack of tiger bones and an uzi"?

Even though I've finished my Asian trip, I'll keep randomly adding blogs until my next trip next year, so stay tuned...

Anyway here's my bird list, in the order that I saw them. Its not a huge list (310 species) but I'm proud of it and that's all that matters. There are loads of really common birds I saw (eventually); there are loads of really common birds I completely failed to find; there are rare birds I went in search of and missed out on; there are rare birds I just found fortuitously. That's the way birding goes I guess. Also I discovered I had been labouring under a misapprehension for most of the three months. I had miscounted my tally of lifers near the start so was forever after one bird out: I ended with 271 new birds not 270 like I thought. It totally messed up my nice round figure, but at least 271 is better than a kick in the teeth.
