Banks Peninsula and Lake Ellesmere
Hello Everyone and Welcome to Christchurch, We landed in New Zealand in Christchurch not really having a clue what it would be like and from having only the warm clothes that we had in Asia we had a bit of a shock as the weather was much like England. We went into the Centre of Christchurch to see what New Zealands second biggest city had to offer and it was really cool. We went out for a few drinks our first night and found a bar called the Grumpy Mole its was decked out like a wild west saloon and offered cheap drinks and free pool so we were happy. We challanged some locals to a game of pool and ended up chatting to them for bit while we battled it out.

They told us that there wasnt much going on in Christchurch and it was a bit of a sleepy city, we found this out for ourselves over the next few days. The main area in Christchurch is the Cathedral square that has lots of stuff dotted around it like street performers, market stalls and an oversize chess board that the locals play on, every time we went past

Amazing Views from top of the Gondola
it a game was being played. We went to the tourist information centre which in New Zealand is called the I-Site, there we picked up some tickets for a gondola ride and tram ride. The Gondola ride takes you up a massive hill just outside of Christchurch and you get some amazing views of the surrounding area it was really cool. My words carnt do it justice you will have to judge it for yourselve's. The Tram Ride we did the next day, and it basically took us on a 5 minute ride around the Cathedral Square which we had already walked round on our first day!! so wouldnt reccomed that one.

We had a quiet night after our busy day as we had to be up early to make sure we didnt miss the Kiwi Experience Tour Bus that was picking us up the next day the real adventure begins now!!!
