Home of the world renowned Marlborough Wine region. We headed here after we left Kaikoura before we headed to the west coast. We only had a day here but we wanted to visit a couple of wineries. First of all we went to Cloudy Bay, they didn't do wine tours but had an "open cellar" where we could try a few wines. We wanted to do a wine tour so we headed to the largest winery in NZ and also the first to plant commercial vines in the area, Montana Brancott Winery. Here we had a nice lunch and went on an hour and a half tour of their estate, after which we tasted some of their wines and were shown the proper etiquette of wine tasting. (Something James has been laughing at his dad for years for doing in puplic). We are staying in Blenheim tonight before heading off on a long drive tomorow accross to the opposite coast.
