The days have all merged into one, and we now find ourselves stopping people on the side of the road..not to ask for directions but to settle disputes on what day it is and what the date is! Thankfully the world cup helps disputes about whether it is Saturday or not..but during the week..total blank! Last I left you we were in the North Island. (To be Fair..I cant remember where I last left..and I really cannot be asked to check..seeing as I have probably a handful of people who read this..Ive decided that minimal effort is required)! We are now nearly in Christchurch and the new zealand adventure is coming to an end. The thought of selling Bongo and heading off on our own..scares us more than not actually knowing what day it is! North island was great..beautiful and eventful. Our last stop in Welli was pretty good. 'Hey Jo' let us fugitives stay in her bed...and however much Jess and I love sleeping on folded down seats... a proper bed was welcomed! Just being able to sit in front of a TV and talk rubbish for hours was also great..probably not far from what we do every day..but having
another person to chat to (although Jess is fantastic company..and hearing her story about how her Mum loves Horatio..a good story.. it was nice to have a new audience)! We kept her digs mates up until the wee hours when eventually Jo got into her PJ's..yawned.. kicked Dom out..and us upstairs..the fun was over. We had another visit to the British Embassy (a must see in every continent)..then a few stresses over Bongo (the bastard sprung a leak).. deciding where to eat and what to do.. (always a nightmare)..and then.. As soon as we arrived it was time to go..we had teary goodbyes with Jo..but managed to convince her (one of the few).. that spending another period of time with us would be a good idea. So..Jess and I will have another friend to share Xmas with us!! (apart from Dysoniouis..winner) More presents me think..!! Jess received an early Xmas present of half a nights sleep..so the poor devil will only have half a present to open on Xmas...woe be to us!!
We cruised from east coast to west coast staying at the best backpackers in the world! Free Internet..free TV..a whole kitchen to ourselves..and the permission of the
owner to stay up into the wee hours watching our nation win the rugby! probably a good thing as Muso (Jess's crazy rugby alter ego) was on form! Continuing to the coast it eventually dawned on me that a month is not enough..and my meagre PT earning would not be able to fund all the activities I wish to do! Its taken awhile!! So what have we been up to you ask?! Well.. not much really. We've been doing things cheaply..showering not so regularly..sleeping on the side of the road..and eating noodles! however..Noodles are so dam tasty in this place..one packet just never seems enough! So...we went from Hanmer Springs (Springs closed..we dint really have the luck of the Irish).. through to Greymouth..looked at a few museums..down the coast towards the Glaciers and Mount Cook. The drive has been amazing..a little slow as bongo hates hills..and brakes not the greatest..but when you have good tunes..it doesn't really matter! For the first time in my life..I saw the sunrise 4 mornings in a row. It was well worth it though..seeing the sun rise over mount cook..with its image mirrored on Lake Mathesan..perfect..perfect morning! That was also following one of the most
brilliant sun sets ever..followed by one of the most Starry skies ever..almost beating Bolivia!
From there we headed to Wanaka..another scenic destination. Sorry that there aren't great adventure stories..like I said..money matters! There was a special on Speights ale..so Jess and I parked up alongside the Lake, which is hugged on three side by a mountain range..and drank. well..we knitted, read and drank! Its a wonder that we still have anything to talk about! We are currently still going through each others most embarrassing moments! Oh..and repeating lines from a movie keeps thing ticking over!
We've just driven along the goldmine route.lots of stuff similar to South Africa..but cool to see anyway. Lots of Wine farms.but once you have experienced Stellenbosch..for FREE.. one is less inclined to fork out 130 NZD for the pleasure! (You freakin kidding me)!!
Sitting in a lovely seaside place below Christchurch (for the life of me i cant spell it..and again..the less effort put into this the better)...so..bikini's may be adorned..a ball to chase purchased and no decisions made. At this point..if i never have to make another decision ever... it would be a great day. I'm all out of decisions..I feel
physically ill at the thought of it. No more..just want the beach..and nothingness! (maybe a six pack..clearly not in the abs department..but in the liquor department)!
Christchurch next stop..selling Bongo..then the delights of OZ!
Love to many
