Five hour hike to Separation Point. More sun, sea, rays (both of the swimming and the shining kind), heat, dust, landslips, beaches, and the odd playful seal or two.

Looks amazing! Seems that you're having better weather than we are here in UK. It's turned pretty cold for mid-March, and cloudy - so not much chance for comet spotting tonight! :-(

Hello Saroulla :)
There was a big, beautiful, graceful ray (a manta-ray type thing) swimming along in the shallow waters of Mutton Cove (Abel Tasman) a few feet from the shore - not doubt fishing for sand-dwellers. And then there were the endless rays of the unrelenting sun :) Loadsa love to all. x

Catching up
You must be doing this while I'm asleep, and over the weekend, because I've only just caught up with you. Nice beaches. Safe to swim? I guess not if you're into tickling the ray fish. btw It's snowing here...

Hey Rob
Yup, all safe to swim in :) Rays are very timid, so no issue. That's NZ for you - nothing to worry about (if you allow the exception of the poor fellow who got eaten by a shark off Auckland a couple of weeks ago).
