We sometimes park near the fernery because its free, and we've popped in a couple of times. Just like it sounds, and cool!

We made a snap decision last night to set off on a northern trip, up the west coast through the kauri forest, to Cape reinga and back down the east, stopping at the bay of Islands. Depending on the hostel facilities, we may not get much blogging done for a week! be good.

Do the New Zealanders celebrate Guy Faulks night? We went to a really great one organised by Nina's children (twenty somethings) Ollie lit the bonfire by dousing it in petrol and then firing a rocket into it, it was amazing. My birthday rockets from last were year were still fine and the food was too nice, too much ,and too fattening. Never mind good job they don't weigh air passengers. Have a lovely week in the north, will e mail next week. Lynda

Hi Carrie
Just got round to looking at the blog for the first time this evening. It's really good and great that you are all having such a great time. Unfortunately I've just spent 45 minutes reading every entry and watching every video when I should have been planning - whoops how easily I become distracted. Hope you have enjoyed the week away, Love Jan.
