testing the life jackets
no-one else would join in, so we did. They wanted to check all the emergency gear. Arrived at the ferry check in, we found the ferry had been cancelled and we'd have to wait 5 hours for the next one. But luckily we could transfer to the other ferry company and hitch a ride sooner. And it turned out to be interesting, with an alarm drill, the sighting of dolphins catching the sun as they leapt, and a glorious blue sky. Made the Wellington hostel before it closed and travelled up to Wanganui today. We had a ride on an old steam paddle ship for a couple of hours - so restful - then walked the tunnel and rode the lift through the rock to the top of the hill. Use your imagination. There are some pictures, I hope.
