Taupo

The journey to Taupo was pretty miserable and it started snowing about half an hour south of Taupo. The main attractions in Taupo are the cheapest skydive in New Zealand, which was cancelled due to bad weather (luckily we'd done ours in Wanaka) and the Tongariro Crossing, one of the best one day walks in the world, also cancelled due to bad weather conditions. We had a guy staying in our room that had attempted the walk that day but the bad weather had moved in and caused one girl to get hypothermia and one guy to slip and slide 200m off the walking track! Because the bad weather wasn't going to be improving, we decided to stay in taupo just the one night and headed up to Rotorua the next day after a night chilling watching films. I'm a bit gutted we didn't get to do the walk, but I guess you can't win them all.
