We had a look at the bungee jumpers in Taupo. We recognised two Scandinavian girls from the hostel so stayed to watch them jump. One screamed well. The jump is splendidly set on a gorge (but looks a little bit tame having seen the Zambezi gorge swing). After coffee and scones in town we drove to the slightly bizarre Aratiatia rapids where the dam is opened at set times each day and the trickle through the narrow gorge below the dam becomes a torrent over about 10 minutes. It is quite absorbing to watch. We stopped off at the Huka Falls again for an ice-cream and later back at the hostel enjoyed a bottle of sparkling wine.
