Zorb it!
Zorb it all the way! The next stop was Rotorua for a bit of culture and a lot of fun. The first day saw us diving into a giant plastic ball with water in the bottom and then sploshing around inside as the ball rolled down a hill. Excellent fun and I (H) couldn't stop laughing all the way down. After that John jumped on the freefall extreme which was basically a small outdoor wind tunnel. He had fun but he was obviously itching for the real thing!!!
Our second day saw us head to White Island - New Zealand's live marine volcano. We had a brilliant tour around the volcano making it up to the crater. Unfortunately the volcano was a bit too active and the gases it was throwing out obscured the view a little (and smelt really really bad!!) but it was an amazing experience.
Our final day in Rotorua was spent pampering ourselves. In the morning we headed to Hell's Gate, which is another geothermal area, and had a real mud bath in mud from the area, followed by a rather hot spa. The spa was obviously heated by mother nature herself to a stonking 42 degrees C!! In the
Freefall Xtreme..
Float like butterfly, sting like a bee! evening we were entertained at Mitai by the Maori's. They put on a show of the traditional dances and showed us exercises performed by the warriors and various other aspects of their culture. This was followed by an authentic Hangi meal cooked in the ground using traditional methods. The evening was excellent and we learnt a lot as well as having a lot of fun.
