Edit Blog Post
Well its been a while since our last post due to being in the middle of nowhere for 3 weeks.
We landed in Aukland had a day there then picked up our campervan ( cheers for the advice Sal!)
Te first week we meandered down through the north island stopping off at different areas.
Rotorua was our first main stop, a volcanic area situated by lake something or other(D isnt here to prompt me!!)
Here we had one of those outdoor hot spa fellas overlooking the lake all heated up naturally.
Now to say that so far it had been f**ing cold up to that point is an understatement all the kiwis were moaning about there spring.
So I turned up in my puny white skin ready for a bit of volcanic action and at 40 degrees was not dissapointed. The sun just appeared as we were getting in although the air was still cool.
24 hours later I was the colour of a lobster and crispy round the edges and very close to a hospital job. What a twat!!
It took 2 more weeks in the camper van to shred all that skin, very sexy.
We stopped at one of the premier surfing beaches in the bay of plenty and basically parked up on the beach for the night, then this storm came in whipping the sand up so you could hardly open your eyes and our van just held on for grim death all night.
The food was so fresh and there are lots of farm shops on route that we started cooking up some of the best food we had had all hols. The asparagas (just in season) was out of this world.
Lots of people say dont bother with the north island but we really enjoyed it.
Im sure D will add to this once she stops shopping ( 1st day in Sydney).
Thank to the people who have blogged back so far keep them coming dont mention the cricket for gods sake!! Photos will also follow with dionne
