Xmas Hats n Snow!!

Time for xmas cheer! .. we were starting to get really cold so we doned on some more clothes but when we got to the top it was really warm that's hot steam around us! .. so when was that earthquake again?

Blue Lakes

One of the best views of the whole trip so far! amazing ... if u zoom in u can get a sense of how far away it is. Had fun skidding the whole way down the volcanic ash/scree .. people we're a little bemused to see to mad irsih with xmas hats hurtling past them (elaines blisters only hurt on uphills :D) the blue lakes are also the half way point!

Note the lake in far backround thats actually a volcanic crater, when (not if) that goes it'll blow the whole North Island! so catch it while u can kids!

Nearly home

The last hour was through a really nice forest, had to apreciate it tho in alot of pain!

ahhhhhh

well deserved hot tub in the plateau lodge after a hard days hiking... these are no Irish hostels I tells ya, for those of you who were worried we were slumming here in New Zealand :D

Festival of lights

Festival up the road from us New Plymouth, might have to pop up on xmas day too

We enjoyed reading about your trip.Sounds like you had a great time. As the makers of Hikerswool, could we just suggest that HikersWool works as a preventative and therefore should be put against one's feet before starting out. We're sorry that perhaps this wasn't explained to you when you hired the boots . You should have been given a "directions for use" leaflet. We apologise for that omission.
