Monday 22nd was a day of cleaning up and packing up the boats and the cleaning up the Bach, we put the boats away and left everything as we found it. It was so good of Mrs Dickson to let me stay there it was a real New Zealand experience that not all visitors to this stunning Country are fortunate to have. We drove back to Auckland via The Bay of Plenty and Wahi where we stopped to look at the Gold Mine. It amazes me how mining for gold in the open cast way destroys the countryside and this is the first thing I have seen in New Zealand that does not seem to be in harmony with the natural landscape. I hope they will restore the land back to its natural beauty.

We returned to Auckland early evening and Martin and I went to his local pub the Cock & Bull in Ellersley. It was just like an English pub but with no smoke. It was very busy and had loads of memorabilia from the UK. On the way back we collected Fish & Chips for our dinner, How very British!
