A day trip to Aitutaki
We have reached the final leg of our journey, Rarotonga, in the South Pacific. Its been my turn to have to acclimatise from the city life (my natural habitat) to a tropical island where there is little to do other than lie on the beach. But its not exactly a hardship and I am still managing to find shopping opportunities. Immediately across from our apartment there is a beautiful secluded beach with a lagoon for snorkelling, both of which we pretty much have to ourselves.

I have finally managed to go horse riding, in what must count as one of the highlights of the holiday, galloping across the beach, then riding, knee- high (mine not the horses') through the lagoon round to one of the main tourist beaches, where we caused quite a stir for those sun bathing when we came out of the water and walked up the beach to the road. We also stopped off for a swim (just us this time - there was no room for the horses) in the plunge pool of the local waterfall - the water was so clear and refreshing - simply beautiful. Needless to say, I have been unable to walk

This is probably our final blog, so I hope you have enjoyed our adventures and the pictures as much as we have. See you all soon,

I don't want to come back! Brussels is great, but the tropics are so beautiful and laid back that i'd like a few more months please. Even in the rain the lagoon and rainforest keep their colours and the snorkelling and swimming don't really change. Plus, the lifestyle lends itself to chilling out - one of my favourite activities. We went to Aitutaki yesterday - basically it's one big lagoon with some islands around the edge - stunning. Plus, no mobile phone coverage, so you contact the outside world at your own leisure ( or ignore it entirely). Am really not looking forward to the trip home. Will be in touch soon,
love Nicky.
