We arrived to the welcoming melodies of Jake Numanga playing his guitar. He's a bit of a legend and meets most of the planes on their arrival.

We arrived in Raratonga at 2.40am to be told by the pilot that we were now 23 hours behind Auckland.

WOW - We get to repeat the day all over again.

That's the nearest we'll ever get to time travel.......

As arranged, Adrianne from Tiare Village picked us up on our arrival.
She informed us that the double we had booked was being refurbished and that we would be staying in a pool side villa at no extra cost...

JOY JOY How lucky are we?
We were the only ones there, it was fabulous and had everything we needed and some...

After we'd slept, Adrianne took us the short journey into town.
We then spent a few hours at the police station applying for a Cook Island driving licence.

You can't drive on the island without one, cost $10

Then it was shopping for essentials.....

Were we in for a shock?

Food prices here were extortionate!!!.
2 litres milk $15 (£5.50p) and cheap white bread $4.20 (£1.60).

Later back at the villa...

We decided as the roads were not too busy and the

road around the island being only 32 kms long, that we would hire a scooter instead of a car for a couple of weeks.

But first, we'd make the most of having the swimming pool to ourselves.

(We knew there would be a wedding party arriving in a few days.)

And after nearly 8 months travelling, we deserved to just sit back and chill out.

Went into town on our third day to hire a scooter and to use the cash machine.

Cash machine spat my credit card out!

I knew it was all going too well!!!!

Went to try and hire a scooter - The credit card worked!!

Tried to get cash again, only to be told "You need to ring the credit card company".

(When I was finally able to ring them when we left the island - It turned out, the international telephone lines had gone down and because I'd tried to draw on it a few times, it had been stopped! Good job I was able to draw on my bank card or we would have been stuck with no money for the duration of

our stay.)

Later that day we met the wedding party...

They invited us to join in with their barbeque
What a great bunch of people to be around, so friendly.

(All from New Zealand and they knew how to have a good time).
We were sorry to see them go 5 days later.

The rest of our stay was spent chilling out and snorkelling in different spots around the island...

A fabulous place to kick back your heels and relax............
