Because business class people were late in arriving in Auckland the arrival of the flight was late (Hate Hate )which meant now everything would be running late. Finally got away at 23-45 and now arrived at Tahiti at 1-30am! instaed of 00-05am.now had to get taxi no bus transfer running $30 US!! to hostel (a rip-off ).The hostel was in complete darkness ,eventually somebody came to the door and booked in, my reservation had been not registered, here we go again but there was room in a dorm bed reluctantly took that re the time $26 US!! (Rip off again)had no real choice .That’s what you pay in French Polynesia, the temp was 30 C humidity 95% and only one fan in the room no air con a real nightmare ,also had to check out the morning by 10-00am or get charged for another day the flight to Santiago was that night 22-30.okay “can we leave our luggage in storage “? “ no problem $10 US”(the bloody French again ripping off where ever they can) the same all over Tahiti a very very expensive place to holiday and just not worth it .Tahiti especially Papeete the capital, total gridlock and dirty took a bus 200 francs (3 euro each way,)(a cup of coffee 3.50 euros !! ) to look at one of the beaches outside the capital, dirty and not appealing at all so took another bus the other way in this case where there was sand it was black the east coast mainly for surfing and to really rub it in it "p…..d" down again with rain If anyone was mad enough to go to French Polynesia you must got the other islands but as most are coral atolls and the best has gone some 30 years ago.
Would only recommend it to my worst enemy.
Couldn’t wait to get out of the South Pacific Islands re weather and prices in Tahiti
