Us and our new palls
Hanging out by the rich kids in town. G’day from Perth, landed just over a week ago and we have been living it up by the seaside. Cottesloe Beach, which is supposedly where all the posh people live. Well the houses were lovely, but our hostel was awful. Cockroaches in the kitchen, and God knows what was living in the bathroom. I did wake up one day with Amz banging on the wall with her flip-flop trying to kill some kinda bug. I thought they were kidding when they showed us our room and I was offered the bunk bed, at exactly what age does that stop being fun. There was no ladder so I had to climb up the end of the dame thing. Made even more appealing by the fact that we were situated over a pub that opens and 11am and closes at mid night. We could hear everything being said and done, all hours of the day.
We ventured out to the common areas to be greeted by pissed up 18-year-old smoking joints. They were pleasant enough, inviting us to join them at a house party. After a few bevies in the pub down stairs this seemed like a fabulous idea. Only when we
rocked up there was a bonfire raging (mainly the trees from their garden and the biggest pile of telephone books you could imagine). Booze was free and we did actually find some guys that were over the age of 17. I was very well behaved and didn't even fall over which is a first for me!
For the first time ever we’ve got sunshine, but it is FREEZING. We went out on the hunt for some winter clothes but of course, they are coming into their summer now and we couldn’t find anything. So first day, in high winds we braved the beach where it was blowing a gale. After a serious case of windburn we decided to stay off the beach until the weather picked up.
We were in a shared room of 6, and luckily got the best roomies ever. 3 Irish nurses, who had a wicked sense of humor and were a little crazy, like us. We went out on a few day trips, such as the Aquarium, Perth Zoo and of course this time of year we couldn't miss out on the whale watching. They migrate down the coast for a couple of months
of the year. Just our luck there was nothing in site. There was a rumor of there being one around our boat, when all the watchers in the area steamed over and then nothing.... typical.
So when on day 6 we went downstairs at 9am to find a guy pouring the last of a bottle of vodka into a tonic water we decided that we'd had enough of the teen groupies that were hanging out there and headed off to the city (Perth). We are now in some old Army Barracks, which are sooo quiet, but clean and right in the middle of the busy part of town (Northbridge). We've just started sorting out the nightlife here and it seems that Aussies love a drink any night of the week so we are sorted.
Just one last thing, found a little flyer the other day for sky diving. So you know what it's like you book yourself on and just head on down there. Got up at 6am this morning to trek down to York, where I chucked myself out of a light aircraft at 14,000 ft.... w-hoo it was amazing. I just kept waiting for the fear
to kick in but it really felt quite natural to be up there strapped to an SA hunk and just rolling out. I would recommend it to anyone, and defiantly would do it again. The view was amazing and the free fall (60 seconds) just passed so quickly. If you ever get the chance, grab it with both hands. The outfits made us look like something out of Armageddon or top gear but the worst bit is the goggles they make you wear. Not the best look in the world. Got a nice little DVD of my cheeks flapping all over the show. The crazy fool even let me take control for a little while. Did a little spinning round and guiding us into the landing strip....
Only 1 week left in Western Oz and we are trying to book up some more trips for next week, so next installment coming soon. Hope it's not to cold at home, was 33oC today and sunny as hell....
Oh and my new Oz Mob no is +61405467942, if you need to get in touch.

Excuse me????
Could you please explain as to how falling out of an airplane from 14,000ft whilst strapped to a complete stranger and wearing painter and decorators overals was as you put it, and I quote, "quite natural"? Falling from 14,000ft, shitting myself and having vomit trailing from my mouth would be a more accurate description of "natural" for that situation if you ask me! Sounds like fun though.
