Edit Blog Post

Hello all,

Welcome to my travel blog! I didn't want to clutter up my other blogs with a mass of photos and maps and videos etc. This trip is fairly short - just three weeks in duration - however I am a prolific (but very amateur) photographer, so I thought I would give it its own space to grow and be free!

So pull up a chair, grab a drink-of-choice and some nibblies, and travel with me and the hubby on our once-in-a-lifetime holiday to the US of A ^__^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, it's just 34 hours and roughly 47 minutes before our scheduled take-off time from Perth Airport, so I suppose I'd better list off our itinerary for you all, so you know roughly where we're going to be at any given time.
Saturday 14 March 2009
0040 (WDST): Scheduled departure time from Perth (PER) Domestic Airport.
0605 (EST) : Scheduled arrival time, Brisbane (BNE) Airport, Domestic terminal.
1105 (EST) : Scheduled departure time from BNE, International terminal.
0700 (PST) : Scheduled arrival at Los Angeles International airport (LAX).
1225 (PST) : Scheduled departure from LAX
1340 (PST?) : Scheduled arrival at McCarran International airport (LAS) Las Vegas.
Check into Luxor Hotel.
Collapse in a heap.
Sunday 15, Monday 16 March
General sightseeing. Will probably stay pretty much on the Strip for these two days, do some shopping and get to know the area.
Tuesday 17 March
Tour of Hoover Dam and South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Must remember to wear some green for St Patrick's day (we are of Irish descent, after all)
Wednesday 18 - Saturday 21 March
More sightseeing. Time to see things like the Stratosphere, catch a show, or pick another day tour - perhaps the West Rim and the Horseshoe Walkway over the Grand Canyon? Also, may get a chance to meet dragovianknight, if we're lucky 😊
Sunday 22 March
1500 : Depart Las Vegas
2000 : Arrive Anaheim
Check into Doubletree Guest Suites.
Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March
DISNEYLAND, HERE WE COME!!! Also, possible chance of meeting queenoftheskies, dragovianknight's sister!
Thursday 26 March
0930 : Depart Anaheim
1100 : Arrive San Diego
Check into Handlery Resort.
Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March
Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, general sightseeing (is that where the nookleer wessels are moored?)
Monday 30 March
1130 : Depart San Diego
1430 : Arrive Los Angeles
Check into Universal Hilton Hotel.
Tuesday 31 March and Wednesday 1 April
Universal Studios
Thursday 2 - Sat 4 April
General sightseeing, Walk of Stars, Rodeo Drive, Grauman's Chinese theatre, possibly La Brea tar pits, Burbank Studios (maybe), Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood sign (that's a given, right?), and a possible side trip down to Catalina Island, if we have the time and energy left. And, of course, any places in between...
Saturday 4 April
2320 : Scheduled departure from LAX
Monday 6 April
0610 (EST) : Scheduled arrival, BNE International
0820 (EST) : Scheduled departure, BNE Domestic
1145 (WST) : Scheduled arrival, PER domestic.
1300 (WST) : Approximate arrival time, HOME...
So that's the approximate schedule of events as they stand today. Of course, almost all of those times are subject to variations - in carrier procedures, local weather conditions, and a multitude of other reasons. Should anything be drastically different, I will attempt to keep everyone as up-to-date as I possibly can.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So that's the plan, anyway. My entries may not be witty, they may not be super interesting - but they *will* be honest - I'll be telling it as I see it - warts and all. For all my readers in the locations we'll be visiting, I hope my observations will not offend you. Please don't take them the wrong way - I will be learning a *lot* while we are there - and I hope to take a lot away from this trip; mostly a deeper understanding of the American way of life and of the people there. And I hope I can teach my non-American readers something new about their American friends, too 😊

Until we talk again, be safe, be well and be happy ^_^

*hugs*
