1 So sorry for the lack of entries for the past 2 months... Oops! Yes I am still alive and kicking. I guess quite a few things have gone on since my last entry, but I would'nt want to bore you with ramblings about them. I'll just give you the gist of it.
I have done road trips since then. We (Jan, Rich, Maurice, Mel, Adam & Steph) headed down to Esperance a few weeks ago. Rented a caravan and did a camping trip. Left for 5 days and drove inland to get there. It really gives you the feel of middle of nowhere... nothing for miles and miles. Was the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen in my life! I can't even explain to you the views and the prestine blue waters and white beaches! Gorgeous!!! There is reason why they have won the most spectacular beaches of Oz. We even got to see a beached whale carcass, which the smell was utterly beyond anything ever smelt before. So discusting... we were all walking towards it together and all at once came to an abrupt stop and turn when the wall of odour hit us. If only we had it
on video. After that we went to Frenchman's Peak, which is a massive rock mountain that we climbed, and got to see breath taking views.
We had our huge Halloween party here also. I've never seen so many people put so much effort into costumes. Everyone looked amazing. I'm trying to get my hands on one of the group photos in front of the hostel of all the 100+ people that were there. Good times!
I finally opted not to move out into a flat or house as I was told we couldn't attend the x'mas party if you were no longer a guests... that really bites, but what can you do. No big deal. I'm meant to leave Perth in January anyway to head to Melbourne with Rich. He has decided to buy a car so we'll drive up. ROAD TRIP!!! A nice long one too! I still love this place, but I am realizing that I'm wasting travelling time on working and staying in one place... which is not really what I came here for. At one point I wanted to stay here, but things happen and change and make you realize that sometimes the best
thing is to move on. So Another 6-8 weeks to save some cash, and off I go. I'm actually very excited about it. After our road trip down South, it just really gave me that high of being on the road and seeing new things.
I finally quit my job at Pasta Addiction. Thank goodness... I was losing my mind there. I am now working decorating x'mas trees! I know, weird job eh? It's not as glamorous as you all may think it is. Five of us from the hostel work there along with some other backpackers. (Rich, Janice, Leon, Stefanie, Stefan, Rick & Ryan) It's good times as we're all together working. We are all in a warehouse reorganizing (lots of physical work... never thought xmas tree decorating would consist of that...??? forklifts and all!!!) Building trees, wreaths, garlands, etc... then decorating them to perfection. I swear I will NEVER decorate a tree EVER again! It really ruins it for the rest of your life.. BUT it is fun. The hours are long.. 9 to 14 hr days 6 to 7 days a week. But the money will be good. We also go on-site to set them up
(Office buildings & stuff). This job should last another few weeks then we get the holidays off and can go back after if we wish to. Probably find another job by then.
We're planning another little trip to Rottnest Island in a few weeks (when works over). Do some camping up there. Janice Leaves on the 23rd of December, so we promised her we'd go before she left to go back home to Canada.
I finally got a bicycle, so I've been riding around town and surrounding areas more and seeing new things. Much easier and quicker to get to the beaches too!!! Woohoo! The weather is getting much much warmer. Last week we got high 30's in Perth. Perfect weather, so hit the beach on Saturday. There's been a lot of beaching now. Loving it!
Well, I will try to give you more news on somewhat of a regular basis. I have tones of photos to put up, so I'll let you know when that is done. Hopefully soon.
Sorry again for the lack of entries. Hope you are all doing well. And congrats to Tanya & Sean and Sophie & Bruno!!!
