Broome 31st May 2012 Leaving Barn Hill we headed North again on the Great Northern Highway towards Roebuck Roadhouse and the turn off to Broome. This has been the one destination that Trisha has waited to get to, not only on this trip but ever since arriving in Australia all those years ago. I can hear her on many occasions saying “when can we go to Broome?” Well guess what baby, you are now ... Read Full Entry

I thought we got rid of you!
Now you just hold onto that Rum as you know it affects your heart at your age. Just keep it until we catch up and I will help you dispose of it safely. Amos (the camel) has been on sick leave, we hear, since we left Broome, he is pinning (spelling?) for us.

Mr.Dampier
Dampier was given command of the "Roebuck" in 1699, the expedition left on the 14th January 1699. On the 26th July 1699 he reached Shark Bay, it was then called Dirk Hartog Island. One other notable thing about Dampier was that he rescued Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe, that is apart from being the first man to circumnavigate the earth three times. Once a seaman...
..always a seaman, I think you (like me) were born in the wrong era, I could see you as a swashbuckling skipper of a cutter plying around the new antipodes. Photos...sorry, but with such limited time internet available, when i get a signal and have time I have been busy trying to catch up on Blog entries (I am still a couple of thousand kilometres behind which is about 7 or 8 blogs!) but, maybe I will do some pics next instead of entries to keep you all interested. Stay safe Grandad.

Kyneton to Broome
Hi Trish & Mike it sounds as though you are having a fantastic time, your blog sure takes some reading as I have not looked for months. This would make a great book. We are well just having small holidays to Marego, Lakes Entrance and soon off to Port Broughton all on the holiday auctions. November Eden & Bateman's Bay.Russell is planning a trip to Alice to visit friends early 2013 and who knows where else. Donna did the Frankston Ironman and managed to do her PB of 13h.31m.32s and she pulled up very well but has decided not to tempt fate with her hip and will just do the local Tri's. Take care and have a great time. Pat

WOW, Hi Pat & Russell
Great to hear from you and even better to know that all is well. Congrats to Donna, that is a big turn around from Busso, well done. Sounds like travelling is still alive and well with you both and their are a few Favourite destinations for us amongst your list. One day we will meet you at Marengo ! Stay safe Mike & Trish.
