After a long days drive (with a couple of misplacements!) I have settled into a very cosy cabin in a lovely little caravan park at the base of the Warby Ranges. Yes Ned Kelly territory!
Driving between Hamilton and Ararat was damp both on the windscreen and out in the paddocks; it was very exciting to see all the little wetlands and dams full and overflowing! Not so many birds on the wetlands only one or two had duck, swans or ibis. I stopped at Lake Buninjon just outside Willaura but there were only Great Egrets (6ish), Black-winged Stilt (4), Golden-headed Cisticola (2) that tested me from the shrubs and reeds and swan and ibis that flew over.
A quick cuppa outside Ararat at a slightly (ab)used wayside stop with the weather warming up, broke the journey to Carisbrook nicely. Before arriving at our family friends for lunch I filled the car at Maryborough, $1.13 and $45.00 to fill the car! Thanks Stewart for the corn beef and mustard sauce sandwich, I only cried ‘cause it was so nice with mustard!!! Or was it the story you were telling me about the farms in the Wimmera.

start of the day
Lambs in the mist? was all new countryside from Carisbrook to Glenrowan and some of it I saw twice! Map reading may not be a strong point when I travel, that and trying to avoid the freeways; Calder, Northern, Goulburn and Hume. The goldfields woodland looks very interesting with many of the gum trees in flower, which promises many visiting birds (hopefully).
Looking forward to tomorrow trying to hunt down a Turquoise Parrot or two! Then a look at Glenrowan and the Big Ned Kelly!
