The Grande Palace
Max and Loz (in a rented skirt as my thai pants were deemed too racy!) After hanging out with Eunice and Graeme in Hua Hin we headed off to Ko Samui. It was quite a shock for sen and I to leave our luxury flash packer life and head back to hostel hell. We went back down south and caught the boat over to ko Samui (met Canadian on boat who when enquiring where we were from asked if Scotland was in London......) There has been bit of trouble in Ko Samuai lately but I am comforted by the fact that I am traveling with the most safety conscious person in the planet -sen taking Eunice's advice and viewing everyone as a "predator" and deeming most bars and clubs too dodgy to go into -a few kamikazes later and she was slightly less vigilante!! After a few days hanging out in Samui we went back up to Bangkok, by plane, which was heavenly. Met up with Katelicious and Mum and Dad again who took us all for amazing dinner at a restaurant on the 66th floor Graeme kept the wine flowing and we all got a bit sozzed! Was really sad saying goodbye to Mum and Dad again and knowing it will be ages till I
see them but I had the thought of the imminent reunion to take my mind off it!
After Bangkok Max and I flew to Singapore, had amazing few nights, met some people in the toilet who took us to Ministry of Sound our dance moves were put to shame but the Chinese hip hopers! Almost did a Julia and Jayne and nearly missed our flight to Bali but once safely on board and after having gotten some travel advice from the captain we were off. Only stayed in Bali a few days as weather was rubbish and the place was completely empty, apparently since the second bomb it has been really quiet. Was really strange and sad seeing a place like that with no people there, was a bit creepy-kept bumping into people who were sitting behind us on the plane as there was no one else there, so spent most of our time hanging out in a cafe getting free cakes!! So because of the weather and the fact Kuta was a ghost town and that I couldn't stand to be apart from Juls any longer we headed to Oz few days early.
So so good to see Juls
and Jayne again. Melbourne is amazing and have just been going out loads, meeting toadie from neighbours and eating burgers since we got here!. Jayne was a bit unfortunate on our first night out and lost her bag while out for a “walk” with a young Australian chap but Juls on the other hand had the luck of the Irish…
Juls’: Whilst Lauren was exercising a few somewhat interesting tactics in an effort to ‘woo’ the opposite sex as she so hiply puts it…namely deliberately bumping into hot surfer characters at the bar or if all else fails just homing in on the most drunk boys there! But to be honest our main priority on nights out had to be the falafel shop we sourced just hours after arrival…I have never seen such naked hatred as I did in the eyes of the poor Chinese woman who was trying to restrain us from eating the entire contents of the falafel kitchen in one fell swoop…don’t think we were understanding the concept of not being able to reach over the counter and take handfuls of food whenever we felt the need! We are now down to 3..had the pleasure of
sen’s company for about 3 hours before she fled to gaz’s side, although she did rejoin us for the infamous and highly cringeable neighbours night. Once again we managed to be the uncoolest people there by actively following the neighbours ‘stars’ for the whole night, despite being firmly told not to, but what can you do when in the presence of such high level international celebrities.
Had a few good nights out with some of our aussie friends from Copenhagen and Lund, they took us to some very hip bars -one made of grass, Julia and I looked a bit out of place next to all the alternative types. On Wednesday we did the Great Ocean road, saw some Koalas, kangaroos and got thoroughly immersed in nature by peeing in the jungle. Juls got a bit over excited and managed to step in the place where sen and I had already peed and was narrowly missed being papped by a tour group of about 27 Japanese tourists! We also had to endure the ordeal of a smooching Italian couple behind us for the entire journey. Jayne left for Sydney on Tuesday and since her departure Juls and I have
been spending most our time in grill’d the mightiest burger establishment in the world and laughing at our own jokes! But just about to get the night bus to meet up with Jayne and Colleen in Sydney for the next round of binge drinking (juls lost her eye mask so not sure how well the journey is going to go!) Will be strange leaving Maxers behind in Melbourne keep feeling like I have lost something when she is not around but her presence is required as the Scotland rugby 7’s official mascot!
Miss you all loads xxx
