Great Ocean Road
Amazing view of the 12 Apostles. We got together with a couple of friends and decided to head away for the Australia long weekend holiday. Daniel and Dorana came to pick us up in St. Kilda on the Friday afternoon then drove down the beautiful Great Ocean Road to our small motel in Apollo Bay. I had done the drive quite a few times down the Great Ocean Road and each time it blew me away, one of the most beautiful drives in the world. We settled into our rooms, bought some drinks and had a few games before turning in for the night. The next we decided to head out to the Great Otway National Park and have a look at the Otway Fly Treetop walk. The drive took around an hour and when we arrived unfortunately the Zip Line tour was totally booked out, which I really wanted to do, so we had to stick to the treetop walk. The walk took around an hour and took us up 30 meters high into the treetop via a steel walkway and apparently it’s the tallest and longest walkway of its type in the world.
The views were amazing, looking over the rainforest so high in

It was a section of walkway which led to a dead end and supported only at one end, which meant it moved a lot as you walked across it. After freaking ourselves out on this thing we made our way back through the rainforest and drove back into Apollo Bay. This evening we grabbed some dinner out then headed back to the motel for more Monopoly cards and plenty of drinking.
The next day we checked out of the motel and set off early, today we were driving to Port Campbell and staying the night, why Port Campbell? Because we wanted to stop at the famous 12 Apostles. We arrived at the 12 Apostles late morning, I had been here once before when I was very little, since then more of the Apostles had collapsed into the sea due to the corrosion, there are now only 8 left. We parked in the visitor’s car park and took the short walk to the viewing area. The place was packed with tourists, I couldn’t believe how many people

The view of the 12 Apostles was amazing, it’s really unlike any landscape out there and it was only a few hours from where we live. After we’d had a quick look around I was keen to jump on a helicopter and get a view from the air, no-one else joined me, but it meant that because I was on my own, they upgraded me to a longer flight.
The view from the air was unbelievable, just a shame that the weather was starting to turn and beginning to rain. The helicopter ride took me right over the 12 Apostles and down to an unusual rock formation called London Bridge, before heading back up the coast to the visitor’s center, it was fantastic and well worth the money. The guys were waiting for me as I jumped of the helicopter, then we jumped in the car and drove to Port Campbell for the evening. The next morning after sleeping in as much as we could, we checked out and took the long drive back home after a relaxing few days away.
