The top location for anyone being in the State of Victoria is to go and see the Great Ocean road which heads along the southern coast west of Melbourne. There are numerous tour companies heading out this way and since it is one of the top attractions, you can just as easily find a group of people renting a car and split the costs that way too. This section of the Gold Coast Road is called the Shipwreck Coast because the Loch Ard is just one of many that have run a ground on the numerous shallow reefs in the area.

The 2 survivors from the Loch Ard wreck made it to shore here and waited out the storm in a near by cave.

The stalactites are formed by the rain water making it's way through the rock.

We went back again to see the 12 Apostles during the day. Anyone wanting to do a helecopter ride over the area for 8 minutes and $60 got their chance. I elected to just head down to the lookouts and snap a couple more shots.

The wind was a little stronger this day so was able to get some waves to accentuate the picture.

A temperate rainforest in the Great Otway National Park. The tree here is a myrtle beech tree which can grow up to 55 meters and there is also a large fern in the center.

The rainforest is down in a bit of a gully and towards the top, you get the immediate switch from the rainforest to the eucalyptus forest.

This huge eucalyptus tree is called the Mountain Ash, Victoria Ash, Tasmanian Oak, or Stringy Gum is the second largest tree in the world behind the redwoods, but is the largest flowering tree, growing up to 70-90 meters.

This shot is back towards the town we ate lunch, Apollo Bay. This section travels right along the coast and provided some great scenery.

With the road carved into a continuously eroding cliff, they have added barriers in unstable places to prevent any accidental...crushings! :)

A few surfers were out catching some waves near the famous Bells Beach.
