Bruny Island is made up of a North and South Island, separated by a narrow isthmus called "The Neck". Departing from Kettering, the only access to the island is by vehicular ferry. The lighthouse was built by 12 convicts who began quarrying local rocks in 1836. Lighthouse was finished in 1838. I have posted more information for you to read.

Lighthouse keepers quarters on the left handside looking out to the Great Southern Ocean. The original keepers had 12 children.

Mostly making white wine and Pinot Noir this is the Southern most winery in Australia. The bottled wine was branded and labelled with paintings of the Bruny Island region which the owners mother had completed in 1999. The paintings were lovely.
