This was the highlight of my trip to actually hold a Koala
This was our first trip to Australia and we decided to visit Kangaroo Island firs, which was the highlight of my trip. We saw a sign for Koala walks at Hanson Bay wildlife Sanctuary. They do Koala walks and nocturnal Koala walks. I hate going to zoos and would rather see animals in their own habitat. We booked a noctural Koala walk the last night we were there. My husband was not keen on the idea but ended up loving it. The couple that manage the Scanctuary were so knowledgeable and it was obvious how much they loved their work. Went on a stroll with several other people as James pointed out different kangaroo's, described plants and talked about the great work they do there. You can stay at Hanson Bay as well as they have great accomodation which we will try next time as I did not know about them before our trip. The night sky was amazing and James was very knowledgeable about it as well. I took a lot of photos, but wish I had gone there in the day as you can still see Koala's moving around in the day time which I did not know

If you get a chance to go to Southern Australia, visit Kangaroo Island as you will love it and go to Hanson Bay as you will not be disappointed. You are guaranteed to see a koala, kangaroo and tons of wallabies.

If you want to read more about the Koala that I am holding, her name is "Lala" and she has her own group on Facebook. Lala has a lot of fans and it is great seeing updates on how well she is doing. She is an orphan and is being hand raised.
