The Setting sun is an amazing sight from West Beach Big4 Caravan Park
The plans for the day were, head to Glenelg and catch the tram into the city, visit the markets, check out some of the tourist sights around the city.
The hint we received from the tram conductor yesterday helped us find parking near the tram stop at Brighton Road, and the tram came along shortly after we parked.
We hopped on and as we were attempting to sort out how to pay for the trip, a friendly local explained the conductor would find us.
We took a seat and he was correct, the conductor came along and asked if anyone required tickets, having read online the cost, Rick only had to show his seniors card, this gives him free trips on the weekends, as well as between 9:03 & 3pm Weekdays.
The card shown, appeared to allow Karon a free trip as well, no comment on age guessing here please!

We began a conversation with a woman sitting opposite us, and enjoyed a pleasant trip into the city.
We explained that this was our first foray into the city and had decided to check out the markets, she offered to show us where they were.
We hopped off at the

stop she indicated, and had a great guide to take us to the centre of the markets.

Interesting wander around in the markets and the produce was of good quality and good prices. Certainly well worth a visit if you wanted to stock up on fresh fruit and vegies.

We left the markets to get the tram (seasoned tram travellers by now) into Rundle St Mall, the shopping Mecca for Adelaide.

The tram was packed but we pushed our way in, (we really had planned to let the public transport take us around to save getting lost). A few stops later we were in the shopping precinct, and it is a paved walk through similar to Queen st Mall in Brisbane, with all the brand shops and a lot of musicians and performers doing their thing.

We found our way to a couple of shops to fill some belated birthday presents, (happy birthday Rob and Ethan).
The next challenge we faced, find the Free Bus, this does a loop around the city centre and takes in some of the places we had chosen to take in.

We had no idea the challenge of the bus catching would be, we appeared to be only missing them by a minute, and they only ran every half hour. Never mind we had plenty of time and no appointments, something we are getting used to understand.

We hopped on the bus and headed to the Botanical gardens, a short ride, we headed into the Botanical gardens to enjoy the quite peace within the city. A few spots within the gardens taken up with wedding party’s.

We found the kiosk and ordered lunch, certainly a relaxed place under the shade of a huge oak tree.
The trip into the gardens was well worth the “Time out” from the city pavements and shops.
We headed back to the markets, (Rick had his heart set on the purchase of a rabbit to cook for a meal)
The free bus back was a little slow in arriving and we landed back at the markets just as they were shutting down, and the rabbit stew was put off for another time.

The tram trip back was planned to take in more of Glenelg, but it stopped at the stop we had parked the car, because of some “problems with the work on the trams” so we chose to head home.

We thought we might check out the beach with the possibility of a swim, after a change into our swimmers, we headed down to the beach. We managed to paddle out, but the urge to swim was lost.

A good day out and relaxed we had dinner and then went to watch the sun be swallowed by the ocean. Certainly worth the time
