Another long time (24 days) with no blog entry for us, but we have been busy busy working! We are still working in Clubmed on Lindeman island and have now been here for over a month, the longest time we have stayed in one place for over 6 months, and it is starting to feel like home! Here are a few snipets of what we have been upto...
Our jobs are both going well, the resort has been very busy and we have had a lot of hours availible to work. Adam was working in the conference section last week and managed to clock up 115 hours over 2 weeks! Anything over 80 hours is pay and a half, so that was a rather nice pay check! Nick is working in the main restaurant and Adam works at Nicholson's Restaurant mostly and the main once per week. We got our first pay checks in over 6 months, it was very nice to see money going in rather than out on our bank accounts! The waiters here come and go very fast and we are now almost the experienced ones after 1 month. Two new english lads called Will and Jo

Adam ready for work... arrived last week and its nice to have some people around who understand english humour! We had a visit from Club Meds world wide CEO last week, Henri Giscard d'Estaing. His dad also used to be president of France and he is very very famous there. Adam met him briefly and shook his hand, and also waited his table a few times. The starters for one meal included oysters, caviar and fois gras (duck liver), and the main dish had a selection of kangaroo, crocodile and emu meats - no joke! Adam got to try kangaroo and fois gras (which was very nice!). Adam has been avoiding the Friday show due to working at the other restaurant on Fridays, but Nick has had to dance on stage several more time since we last wrote, working on getting a video!
Days off have been going well, our golf has been improving and Adam has taken 7 shots off his best and Nick improved by a massive 12 shots! Adam got beaten at Tennis by Francios (from France) 6-1 6-1. Adam then beat Nick 6-1 6-2! Our serves are getting a bit more consistent and we have aquired some rackets so
we can play late night games with the flood lights. Our darts are improving and Adam is undefeated at 'around the world'. The darts highlight was Adam scoring 137 with 3 darts going for triple 19 like a pro with his 3rd dart after blocking the triple 20! In other sports news Adam finally managed to beat a korean at ping pong, it was a very close game, probably because 'Steven' used his left hand all game! When the 2 English guys arrived we played England vs Korea at 'soccer' and smashed them 8-2! We both played a late night poker game with all the French chefs in the restaurant after closing, Nick took 1st and Adam 2nd for a total of 160 dollars - we haven't been invited back since haha! Adam has continued to run up the mountain on his days off and saw a whale spurting water near by the island one day! We also saw lots of turtles in the sea from the restaurant windows, it was a breakfast service and it was good fun spotting them for the guests. Nick finally saw a snake on his walk to work a few days ago, the next
Snake!
Glad we spotted this before we stood on it! day Adam and Steven saw one in the bushes while hunting for thier golf balls, was a very close encounter!
Watching the olympics here has been great. There are 36 different nationalities working on the island and waiting for all the flags to come out at the opening ceremony while in the bar was good fun. There were big cheers for Korea and Peru (and obviously Oz) as there is a high population of them here. One of the highlights was watching Park Teaheon win the 400m Freestyle with all the koreans, they went crazy for it! We also managed to watch both of Usain Bolts amazing performances live, probably the biggest highlight of the games. Phelps's domination of the swimming was also fun to follow and the amount of world records is madness! TeamGB have been doing us proud and its great to be beating Australia on the medal table at present - lets hope it holds out the last day!
We have been hanging out with the South Korean's a lot recently and they are such a good laugh. 'Steven' and Min are probably the funniest people we have met on our trip so far and
when watching the opening ceremony we asked Steven why North and South Korea won't walk out together at the games this year. He joking replied ' There is no problem between north and south Korean.... there is only South Korea!' Funny stuff for a guy who is still learning english as a second language. We have been teaching them to play darts, golf and pool, and in return they have taught Adam who to play 'go-stop', which is a very complicated Japanesse card game that uses flower cards (very different to western playing cards!). Adam managed to somehow win his first 3 games to the amazment of the koreans! They also taught us how to make and eat noodles from the foil packet they come in (korean army style!). We have since found out its not good for you due to the foil packaging. We have learnt a little bit of Korean and Adam can say 'Nice noodles, do you have anymore?'. We have also got to use a little bit of French, the company is French and the chefs in Nicholson's restaurant are french speaking, it suprising how quickly you remember bits when you start using it. Adam has

hanging out near our housing also being learning Swedish via mp3 tutorials for a month now, starting to get better!
Also the halfway point in our trip slipped past without us noticing! We have now been away for over 6 months, it seems crazy to think we are only halfway, we have seen and done so much already! Once we leave Lindeman Island we will only have 3 months of travel left - then back to England! We have decided that while on the island we will try not to visit the mainland at all. Firstly to try and save more money, and secondly for the claim of staying on an island for 3 months! However we are already repairing shoes with super glue, so maybe we won't make the challenge! We are planning a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef in the next few weeks, and also thinking about what we are going to do for 1 week between work here and leaving for New Zealand (probably Ayrs Rock).
