Laughing as always...
There were 2 Irish sisters aboard Aoife and Aideen and they were fantastic! We had so much fun together! Aoife took this picture... When you are in Australia and you are a diver, then you have to dive the Great Barrier Reef of course!! So I flew up to Airlie Beach, boarded the Anaconda III and sailed out to the Great!! Along the way we stayed one night in White Haven, the next morning we went ashore on the white sandy beach and had a very relaxing wake up. In the afternoon we did a little dive and I was totally feeling it again. Because I had been sick in Egypt my last dive was almost 2 months ago, impossible!! The next day early morning, as in 5 o'clock, we started the race to the Reef. We were the first ones there and plenty of room to have a relaxing snorkel or dive. As you can imagine I went for that last option! Out with the dingy, drop down, BEAUTIFUL!! The trip back was a bit ruff and difficult to handle, but what a sight! We ended up in Blue Pearl Harbour and as soon as the light of the ship went on in the dark the dolphins came out to play. Aoife and Aideen came running down 'Arlette, Arlette, there are dolphins around!'
Out with the dingy!
Of course we couldn't land on top of the reef or on the beach with that massive ship. So we just anchored somewhere and took the dingy to the shore or Reef. So I came up, leant over the railing and a black thing was heading from the front to the back of the ship. 'There it is, there it is!' It stuck its head out of the water and made a lot of noise wagging its tail. 'Wow, that's not a dolphin!' There were other hunters in the bay...SHARKS! The little fish were flying over the water, trying to get away and the dolphins and sharks were chasing them the whole evening. BEAUTIFUL!! The next morning we went down again and this was my most wonderful dive of these few days. It really was like swimming in one big aquarium. All around you there were big fish, so curious, coming up to you really close, sometimes you couldn't even see through. There used to be a male Napoleon Wrasse named Elvis, but he died. The females were very lonely and as some animals do in the wild, they change sex if necessary. So the biggest female is changing her sex to male now and she's about halfway the process. She's changing colour and everything, I met her along the way or should I say him or...??
