Wow!!!!! Wow!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Whitsundays was amazing!! Had the best 3 days!!!
We set off on Thursday dinner time! The boat was called the SV Whitehaven and was a small sailing boat! There was only about 20 of us on the boat, all young, so there was a nice atmosphere! The boat crew were really young too (all younger than us, are we getting old???) which made it even more chilled!
We set off straight away, and sailed to the first location on the Whitsundays! Nik went snorkelling, but me and Sar being the usual beach bums couldn;t be bothered so chilled on the boat! Also, the waters were full of box jelly fish which can kill ya in under 20 mins, so you had to wear a lycra wetsuit in the water! Unfortunately my detox hasn't shown any visible weight loss yet, so that lycra suit was not very appealing!
Then we moved to a new location, dropped the anchor and chilled for the night! It was soo relaxing! Just lying on the deck beneath the stars, eating drinking and listening to tunes! We even slept out on the deck under the stars! I've always wanted to
do that! I saw 4 shooting stars that night too! I've only ever seen one in my life! And in the background you could hear splashing against the sea...apparantly that was the Whales!! Wow!!! Gave up outside at about 5am though as was freezing! Not that got any sleep inside either! 20 people in a small cabin (was all separated into separate rooms though) and at least half of them must have been snorers! Ahhh, could've cried!!!
The next day got up at half 6 (ouch!) and moved onto next location! This time decided I'd be stupid not to snorkel at least once on the trip, so me and Nik went in (yep, that lycra suit looked lovely!)!! And soooo glad I did! It was the best snorkel I'd done by far! Me and Nik were just swimming around on our own, watching the nemo's! Next thing looked at Nik and noticed the biggest fish I'd ever seen! They were longer than Nik with big goofy teeth! And there were about 11 of them right a few foot away! Kinda freaked me out a bit to begin with! Big gob full of water, splashing around...you;'ve seen me panick in
the water! But calmed down and was cool!
Then we swam to a different area and Nik finally saw a turtle! It's been a running joke as Nik dived the most outta the 3 of us in Koh Toa (which is known as Turtle Island because of all the turtles there) and she was the only one out of us who has never seen a turtle!) So she was well chuffed when it came up and started swimming with us! It was so cute!!!
In the afternoon we went to the famous Whitehaven Beach! I've seen pics of it on the post cards and all, but never expected it to be as amazing as it was! It was soo beautiful! And the sand felt so soft! It was like snow (it actually crunched under your feet!). We chilled there for a few hours...and wierdest thing! I was sunbathing and Sar and Nik were in the sea! They were shouting for me to come into the sea, and next thing you know they had a guy stood next to them! It was only a guy called Tom who we had hung around with in Koh Toa for ages (wicked
guy!)!!! He'd heard Sars voice (hard not to hey!) and couldn't believe it was us either! he'd left for Oz a few weeks before us! Thought we may bump into him in Sydney or something but not on the Whitsundays! There are 72 islands to choice from there, but he happens to be on the same island, on the same beach, on the same patch on the same day! It's mad!!! So nice to see him, and good to talk about good old Koh Toa memories! Ahhh!!
Then on the night it was same again! Sar drove the boat home (the boat crew were a right laugh so ended up befriending them...as always!)...Rick (the Skipper) showed Sar how to sail and she got us back without any drownings!! ha! Felt bit sea sick after though! We pissed people off by putting our ipod tunes on (pro of knowing the crew hey!), but the boat was full of moshers so our tunes didn;t go down well! Opps!
Then next day was up and back to Airlee! Had such a good time, and was so nice to chill out! Think 3 of us were really needed it! All getting bit
stressed (I know, violins for us stressed in Oz!)! Just had so many days trying to work out how to get to each place, working with the Spas bus, stressed with crap hostels and lack of sleep due to nobs in the room and all! ANd stressed bout money and all! So good to chill!
Anyway, babbled for ages now! So gonna go!
Hope ya all well!
Miss ya's!
