A few incidentals in Cairns was on the cards this morning before moving up the mountainside to Kuranda. We did not have the chance to stay long in this little village a few weeks ago so we were back to see what it had on offer.

First impressions were that it was an alternative spot of the world and I learned today that this was the case as during the 70s the village was a bit of a hippie haven. Kuranda has its fair share of tourists and the markets that are open daily are a big drawcard. We sauntered around for a few hours and were particularly impressed with a local honey shop and the vendor selling homemade icecream.

On our way out of the village we stopped to see Barron Falls. Kuranda is set among mountain rainforest and the views along the boardwalk at the Falls were what we have come accustomed to in far-north Queensland....amazing.
