Caught tour over to Fraser Island. One of only two ways of getting there. Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world.

Fast facts:

Has over 44 freash water lakes. These lakes are blue, blue, blue with beautiful white silica sand.

Yes it has all of the usual snakes and spiders.

The beach on the eastern side is 90 km long and is and is the National highway, and local airstrip.
Some individuals on our tour took a brief flight over Fraser Island from this Beach/Highway.

Freash water table is 90 M above sea level and it is estimated that the water basin holds about 44 million MEGA Liters (a mega liter is a million liters!)

Fraser Island was also used as Australia's special forces jungle warfare training ground. It was here that camoflauge was invented in 1930 after imitating the algae/moss growth on the local tree bark.

We stopped at the shipwreck, Maheno. During a cyclone it crashed there in 1935. Maheno was a 400 ft passenger liner also used as a hospital ship in WWI. It was the fastest ship in its day. Maheno was built in New Zealand in 1912.

Fraser Island is home to the purest blood line of Dingo (Asian Wolf.)

Uncle Ralphies big adventure
Dear Auntie Becky: All of us who know Uncle Ralphie, know that he can bench-press a small car. Now, if he were born and bred an Aussie, we could imagine he could have turned out to be one cool crocodile hunter. We would therefore like to ask if you could photograph and upload said photos of Uncle Ralphie strong-arming an old saltie. He doesn't have to do anything extreme like putting his head in the salties wide open jaws. Maybe just a head-lock or something would do! We look forward to further blogs and photos from Down Under! Have Fun, A squared
