At Elsewhere We are entering one of the best weekends in the life of Alexa Hill. All the energy and hype getting into the weekend had been building for an entire month now. Maria couldn’t decide if she wanted to spend the weekend with Morgan (an Australian we finally met) on the beach with his Aussie friends or go to Byron with the Americans, Forest and Henry. Yea we couldn’t make up our minds between which guys to hang out with – real first world problems. Poor us.
I’m kidding. Maria and I picked Byron – (Morgan the Aussie fell through). At Byron we were promised driving lessons on the left side of the road and personal surf lessons from the Hawaiian instructor himself – Forest. So we got the biggest cultural experience in Australia…..by Americans. How ironic.
We finished our culture exam, left the RedRoom (the UQ bar on campus), and rode the train to Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast (for the 3
rd time) in lots of anticipation. We met up with Forest and Henry late that night. We visited them and their friends in their crazy 32 story apartment overlooking the city, just like last time. We randomly

Ready for the camera watched college prank wars, played a drinking game to the presidential debates (Obama versus Romney – we always drank to percentages), then took pictures with bananas in front of a banana poster - the funniest thing ever. We went Elsewhere that night – by Elsewhere, I mean that was the name of the club. I didn’t know that until I found it written in ink on my arm the next morning. Last I checked the clock was 4:30 in the morning, when I passed out. Surfer’s is awesome.
