A week of travelling having got rid of the rain for most of the week.We travelled partly because I am suffering a gouty foot and am no use on walks! However managed 9kms today so it is improving.Dried out in Bundaberg and Rockhampton.Highlight of area was Capricorn Caves north of Rocky.Marked the birthdays of Graham and Lewis this week but sadly we were not in Melbourne for them.Found out how busy the camping grounds are in North Queensland -it may continue to be so.Had the Queens Birthday weekend at Eungella (pronounced Youngela) National park 80 kms west of Mackay. It is 2000 ft up and after a very steep ascent(12%) the view from the park was breathtaking. The main feature of this NP is the presence of platypus-very shy creatures. With some patience we managed 2 sightings so can descend with a sense of satisfaction.Janet laughed when she saw the 4 photos I took in near dark so they are not posted!Another challenge was met today on the misty and wet walk which we did-leeches.I got bitten 4 times and Janet once but we had to stop regularly to de-leech.Tomorrow we go down to Mackay and have lunch with Warner Banks-a friend from Rotorua and Hong Kong
