Arrived in Brisbane on the 10th Dec after a second flight delay at Sydney Airport. Jetstar flight JQ818 was delayed for about an hour but the journey itself was uneventful.
Brisbane is only half an hour away by flight but there is an hour difference between the two cities (different time zones). The journey from the airport to the city centre is about 20mins. Checked in at the YHA Brisbane city (about 10mins walk from Roma train station) & was allocated to a room on the brand new wing. The hostel is undergoing a major refurbishment, phase 1 is completed, another two phases to go. The old and tatty building behind the main building is going to be refurbished by 2009 with a rooftop swimming pool, overlooking the river. Nice!

Anyway, Brisbane is like many other cities, lots of high rise buildings intertwined with the old ones. The city itself is by the Brisbane river. The weather is much warmer than Sydney. Subtropical I should say. I didn’t do that much on my first day in Brisbane, just roaming around the city. Went to the museum, art gallery and QPAC.

On the second day, I decided to do a bit of shopping before I leave the city. Saw a leaflet at the airport about Harbour Town, which is a factory outlet just outside Brisbane. Harbour town is actually in Halensvale, about 1 hour journey by train. If anyone of you wanted to go there, catch a train to Gold Coast, stop at Helensvale station, then catch the bus to Harbour Town (the bus stop is actually on the right hand side as you go out of the station). Lots of designer stuff at the factory outlet, with a nice alfresco-style food court.
