Australia's crazy weather patterns has unleashed a slow-moving monsoon that is traveling up the east coast, which is the same direction that we are going  It has literally rained for almost 5 days straight…. We finally had to break down and buy some umbrellas because this weather is not going to let up. Despite that we did our best to still make the most of our stay in Brisbane. Last night we went to the bar that is attached to our hostel for trivia night. We did a very poor job representing America lol but we tried our best. The question that really got us was “What US state has the smallest population: a. North Dakota b. Vermont c. Alaska. We regrettably picked Alaska…. I’ll let you guys guess what the right answer is.

Then this morning we went to the Koala Sanctuary and Zoo, our wet feet and cold legs could only take the elements for a few hours but it was still awesome. We had the incredible opportunity to hold a koala (pictures will be posted when I get back home), while they are still very adorable they reek and are very heavy. After we braved the rain a little longer and walked around Brisbane. The best part was this man-made lagoon that is in the middle of the city, the turquoise water was beautiful even in the rain. Brisbane seems like an awesome place to live, and I wish we could have gotten to see more of it.

Tomorrow we leave for Hervey bay which is just a quick stop-over on our way to Frasier Island. This island is the largest sand island in the world. On Frasier Island we will be 4-wheeling and camping for 3 days/2nights. We are in a self-guided group with about 5 other people, and together we will be in charge of all the driving, cooking, and setting up camp. The best part about the islands are there freshwater lakes which are famous. The lakes are awesome but the main reason they are so popular is because all of the beaches surrounding the island are infested with sharks- to be exact it is a shark breeding ground. So all of the swimming has to be done in the lakes. Secondly what makes this island famous are the wild dingoes that inhabit the island (as in the dingo stole my baby!). Obviously I will not be wandering very far from camp. Despite all that I am super excited to see the island because it is supposed to be amazing!!!! Oh plus the sand dunes are incredible. I will write a blog as soon as I return to let you know that I survived! Wish me luck 😊

Oh and tonight we will be out celebrating my acceptance into McGeorge Law School!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see this town at night.
