Coffs Harbour
Fruit and Veggies by the road We arrived in Coffs harbor in the late afternoon, and since it was time for Neville getting his next service (we already drove for 10.000km with him), we went straight to a mechanic, who luckily had time for us early the next morning. We checked out the town, which was not particular interesting, though we did go shopping and went to the waterfront park and enjoyed a very nice bbq. The next morning Neville got serviced, and there was nothing which had to get done, so we could leave the town fairly quickly. We headed south for Urunga, a very small village at the coast, which Ruwen and Mari recommended us to visit. It was a very cute little place, however the most interesting thing was the long boardwalk which ran along the shore and between mangroves. It was very beautiful, and we both enjoyed being back by the ocean after the long inland trip from which we just came from. In the afternoon we drove on along the coast down to Port Macquarie, where we originally did not plan to spend any time, however we were waiting for Becky to arrive with her friends in order to go to her

Louise taking a nap while Christian does the work ;-) parents place, and we therefore had to kill the time. We found the town rather nice, and we went for a short stroll before returning to the car. It was slightly early, so we could not yet find us a place to sleep for the night, so we drove out and watched the full moon over the ocean. The next morning we went to the town beach, where we found a nice spot on the lawn, where we enjoyed a very nice breakfast consisting of fresh mango and egg-fried toast bread with cinnamon sugar. We stayed here all day long, enjoyed the sun, read in our books and played yatsy together. For the evening we grabbed a “starter” at the local dumpling place, before heading to the harbor front where we
(once again) cooked fried noodles and vegetables. We enjoyed a nice rum and coke before strolling through the town centre, then drove off for sleeping. The next day we went shopping for groceries before once again driving inland towards Elands, where Becky grew up on an organic dairy farm. We arrived in the afternoon, and got greeted by the cutest dogs: old Beethoven and young “smiling” Jango. He really

Wow, a beautiful mermaid got flushed ashore! did smile at us whilst barking and he was happy to get some company. Beethoven was an 8year old dog, and not too enthusiastic, though still loved being cuddled. We sat at the dining table together with Becky’s parents Heidi and David, chitchatting. After a little while David had to attend the cows, and we walked out to the dairy in order to look along whilst he was milking the cows. But before this we drove around with him on the farm and Christian helped a little along fixing the watering system. Both dogs were running along the car and it was nice to see the farmland. We got to help along with the cows, and even Christian got to attach the milking machines to them. It was rather tricky not to get shit all over, though luckily we could borrow some rubber boots. Afterwards we helped cleaning the milking area of the dairy, and drove back to the house where we luckily could shower off before dinner. Heidi had already cooked for us, and we enjoyed some very delicious beef- and deer sausages with vegetables. We sat around talking before doing the dishes and then turning in. We got

Tropic Paradise! to sleep in an extra “house” they had, where we could enjoy the comfortableness of a real bed. The next morning while Christian slept in Louise went for a morning walk, enjoying the coolness of the temperature and the beautifulness of the surroundings of the farm. Later we enjoyed some breakfast before driving down to their factory where they produce and pack their different yogurts and cheeses. We helped David packing the yogurts for sending them off to different distributors around the east coast. After this we drove with them into Wingham town (a short hour’s drive), where we walked around and checked out the area where Becky had gone to high school. We also went for a short rainforest walk and watched hundreds of bats hanging down from the trees. On the drive back we stopped by at the Elenborough Falls. When returning to the house we found that Becky had already arrived with her friends and they were setting up camp by the creek. They came hasting back up the drive-in due to an accident with one of the fences, and Becky’s friend Joel had lost the nail of his thumb. It was bleeding a fair bit, though

View from the board walk the girls got it wrapped up fast and decided a visit to the doctor was not necessary. Kind of a dramatic introduction to her lovely friends. Before dinner we all headed back out to the dairy in order to once again help out with the milking of the cows. It was Becky’s friends first time, so they were fairly excited about it and Christian had finally got a grip on how to attach the milking machine. We all enjoyed a nice dinner together before we drove down to our tents by the creek.
The next morning was Becky’s 25
th birthday so when everybody was up we went to the house for breakfast. We helped the other girls preparing whilst Becky got expelled from the kitchen, due to being the birthday child. We had brought a big watermelon which Louise cut out as a basket and carved “Happy B-day Becky” in the “handle”. Becky liked it very much, and we all enjoyed a nice breakfast before driving down to the factory where we saw how they “bottled up” their yogurt. Afterwards we packed a lunch basket and drove off to “The Rapids”, a little creek with a fall. Here we
enjoyed our time before heading back to the house, cooking. Christian broke apart the bed construction and arranged the roof basket, whilst Louise and Becky prepared the roast for dinner. We sat out in the garden for the meal, and it was a very lovely atmosphere, food was great and the company even better. We sat around chitchatting and it was all very cozy until Joel threw away a big spider, which made Louise rounded up a little, though with her good manners she calmly stayed seated. But just until she on her own back felt a big spider crawling up. First she thought it was the dress sitting a bit funny, but when the hand sized hairy spider reached her bare skin above the dress the chair flew away, a loud scream sounded from her lips and tears started running down her cheek. She ran around in the garden until Christian had managed to get her inside and calmed her down a bit. Becky and her mother also came in to make sure Louise was alright, and after a little while we went back out and enjoyed a nice German dessert. After dinner we all went inside and David
Port Macquarie
Holy shit, the bats are attacking! played some songs from “Sound of music” on YouTube. This all the girls enjoyed very much and Louise was in fast recovery from her shock earlier. We went down to the tents for another night’s sleep and the next day we went for a walk at the Elenbourough Falls. It was beautiful and the temperature was very pleasant due to some slight rain. In the afternoon we all hang around and for the evening milking we again went down to help out. This was our last dinner at Becky’s parent’s place, and we made ourselves ready to once again wrap up and be on the road. We slept in the car due to rain, and in the morning we got up early in order to hit the road, we would have a long drive ahead of us since we planned to manage it to Sydney the very same day. We said goodbye to everybody and Heidi and David was so nice to give us some of their wonderful yogurt along, so at least we would not go hungry the upcoming days ;-)
On the drive down the mountain we suddenly saw something on the road, which we first (from

Late dinner in the moon light longer distance) thought was a pig, however it turned out to be a wild koala walking over the street. Louise jumped out of the car in order to get some good pictures, and it was very cool to see a wild koala this close up, something we had been looking forward to for a long time.
