Hi every one,

My husband and myself (we are both in our early 50's ) have planned to take a year or two off and travel the world. Neither of us are seasoned travellers. We live in Sydney and ideally want to travel staying in each continent for a couple of months and visit countries/places by land. We want to go to the less traversed places and visit the cities only for some spectacular sight seeing, not otherwise. Countryside is what we are looking at.

Has any one started out of Sydney travelling the world ? Has any one travelled the less trodden paths around the world on a budget travel or home stay sort of accommodation plan ? Do you think a couple could do it within US $ 3000 a month ?

I would be ever so thankful for any tips and advice coming from other travellers.

Regards.
