Sydney Harbour Bridge
Early morning walk when all i really wanted to do was sleep. Ah man!!!...even when i have tried to book accommodations in advance its useless, I arrive in Sydney early morning Saturday (6:30-7am) tried to check in to find out i couldn't check into my room till 10am so i had to wonder the streets of another new country to kill 3 hours. Although i was very tired from not having much sleep on the plane coming from Thailand and not sleeping much the last few days there, all i was looking forward to was checking in and having a great sleep.
Actually it turned out fine, i got to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House in the early morning light and the streets was so peaceful and empty apart from a few early morning joggers and an old Japanese man snapping away with his camera, it was great strolling around finding my way around. By the time i got back i was exhausted but real couldn't sleep, it was in the middle of the day and i ended chatting to my dorm mate in the end.
The hostel i stayed in was very nice (WAKE UP!!) in fact its was tooo nice it doesn't even feel like a hostel,
more like a hotel, it was huge, very clean and modern. Too be honest it was too fancy i much prefer a smaller intimate place instead so ended up checking out after 2 days and moved to the "Fuck House" in Kings cross which in fact is the slums of Sydney but more atmosphere and laid back backpackers.
My first meal in Sydney was a huge bowl of "pho" I was staying right next to China Town so there was nothing like a HUGE bowl of Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup...aaaaaah!!!...it hit the spot!!!!
Day 2 in Sydney, as you know i don't usually like big cities too much but Sydney is actually a very beautiful city for strolling through, Darling Harbour (watched a few live bands playing & people watching, luckily the weather was very nice that day before it turned to English weather....wet, cold and miserable especially when i have no warm clothes , Cockle Bay, Botanic Gardens where i found a nice spot to watch the Sunset behind the Opera House and to round up my lovely relaxed day strolling the streets of Sydney i meet up with Sonya & friends (German girl from Kho Phi
Jamison Valley
Even though it was cold and wet, still a stunning view. Phi ) for a drink before she had to head off in her Camper van around Australia....Im so Jealous!!!!...how cool it would be to do a road trip?..oh well maybe next time 😊
The weather here has been SHEEEET!!!!!!.....really wet and cold (extra cold for me for being in hot countries for the last 4 months).
I've been pretty poor for the last week, sniffling away with a runny nose. Had to go get myself some warm clothes. Even with a cold i still couldn't stay still, so i decided to go to Blue Mountains to do some treks. Lorenzo (an Italian guy from the hostel) wanted to join me so i had company. Must admit when i first meet him he was cooking away in the kitchen, i needed some oil but was too scared to ask him as he looked very serious and unapproachable so i ended up using butter from a German couple. Anyhow at the table he kindly offered me a glass of his wine and you know me never could say no to a nice glass of red...hehehe.
Anyhow we got chatting away, seemed ok although i was a little cautious as he seemed
to have just been in a fight or something his eyes was all swollen. That explains why he seems peeed off that night, he got attack by a group of young boys when he defended a young Italian/Australian girl.
Lorenzo came across very macho and very typical Italian, i suppose its because his just came from the army, from the way he speaks and his mannerism. When he calls people or try to get someone attention he whistles and stuff, he says its not seen as being rude in Italy...hmmmm...
His very polite though saying "Thank you Madam" and "hello" but in a very strong kinda aggressive italian accent, ah he had such a strong italian accent which i loved mimicking, I don't know how he put up with me for so many days.
After a long walk in Katoomba 3 sister mountain....Lorenzo kindly shouted and cooked me a lovely T-bone steak meal with red wine. Just what we both needed....it was very nice and the hostel we stayed at was another great one...really really nice, the kitchen was like a restaurant kitchen huge and clean.
Ah i have a great story to tell...how Lorenzo is so
Chef Lorenzo
That's better....look how serious he looks when his cooking. Not complaining though :) Italian...after our great walk in Wentworth Falls with the stunning view of the waterfalls, i'd enjoyed this much more than the 3 sister walk/trek.
So we headed back to our hostel...really looking forward to the remaining steak we had that we was going to make a lovely hot stew for dinner...we was very hungry at this time!!!... so we start preparing and he goes to the fridge to get the steak...its gone!!!...his already started cursing!!...and there's me smiling away thinking its really funny....im sure his put it in the fridge which has a huge sign saying it will be empty and cleaned on that day.... So his cursing in Italian and slamming the fridge door and hitting in... im trying not to laugh too much but it was sooooo funny...anyhow he then went to complain to the manager who can only apologise that if someone has taken it. Luckily a guy confused he ate it because it was in the free food section and offered us some other beef he had. I thought that was very honourable of him but at first when he told Lorenzo he ate it, Lorenzo wasn't having none of it and was a little
T-Bone Steak with fresh chunky chips
YUMMY!!!!!!....... especially after a long cold trek. rude even when he was trying to offer to replace it, i didn't think he understood him BLESS!!!!....
My last day in Sydney, Still had not seen any of the beach but luckily the weather was a "little" sunny so Lorenzo and me decided to get a day ticket and do the lot. So first stop Bondi, i didn't spot any hunky men i thought it was the place to do beautiful people spotting. I suppose without no sun and with the Apecs on and parts of the beach closed to the public due to the first lady having her lunch there. Then we jumped on the bus to Watson Bay which was very nice with all the yatchs harbouring there, got the ferry back to circular quays and then headed over to Harvey Beach. I then had to rush back as i wanted to check out a Salsa class/club back in the city.
Ah....i regretted that i didn't go the week before when i'd arrived, the people was very friendly and i got to meet local Australians who could have shown me the really Sydney. Oh well, had a great night ended going to Bondi beach again for
a lovely night walk to burn off all my remaining energy.
Sydney is great for backpackers especially when you go out with your Hostel, they take you too all the bars where you can get free beers/wine for an hour then you move on to the next for more free drinks...you can have a great night without spending any money the danger is you can end up drinking all week. One night out was enough for me...im getting old!!!!...hehehe
