Edit Blog Post
So I have been here in Sydney for about a month now, I thought it was about time i did a second blog, just so I dont bore everyone posting every other day (my life isnt that exciting im afraid)
So I have now setteled into my new flat where im sharing with 5 other people, who i think its only fair get a mention. So im sharing a room with 2 Irish sisters. One I dont see a lot of due to the fact she works in a bar and im doing office hours, but playing up to the stereotype I have been told she is a drinker. I have not been on a night out yet, but who am I to doubt the Irish drinking capacity. The older sister can talk for Engla....sorry Ireland, which is always nice to be able to witter away to someone, also good that someone can actually shut me up for a change. We also have a Fench girl who well, is just very French. Very animated, lots of wild hand geustures, shrugging of the shoulders and pouting, but like the Irish girls, all three have amazing accents, however she is moving out
soon so a new flatmate will be arrivng soon. And if its anything like the rest of the city, its more than likely going to be a aisan person, and anyone who knows me knows I am no a racist in the slightest......but the city is over-run with the little buggers, its like an infestation. I only kid, we actually already have a lad from hong-kong in the flat, who is as bent as a two bob note, yes i know, gay and chinese, what a minefield of political incorrectness. But he is actually incredibly funny, mainly due to the fact that after half a bottle of Sminoff Ice he is as pissed as a fart and turns redder than a baboons arse, and lets not even mention the fiasco the other night when he brought home a bottle of poppers without even knowing what they were. The apartment is all i need really, it has 2 swimming pools, 2 jacuzzi's, a sauna, gym and squash court downstairs which is keeping me busy at the moment. (hopefully there are pictures)
I soon realised after getting here that I would need to get another job, as Sydney is
so expensive to live, so this week i started looking for another job. One of the first interviews i was called back for was rather unexpedtely for modelling, acting and extra work. I was really unsure of what exactly i would be doing, but in the search of extra cash i went to the interview for the craic. Anyway, the lady there ended up taking some pictures and said if there was any work she would call me, but to bost my chances of getting a job i should do a profile, which meant giving over 350 notes for something i wasnt even sure what it was for, so in the end i kindly refused and left with a quite surreal feling to the whole experience. In the end it worked out ok, as I now have a friday and saturday night job at a wine and cocktail bar, which does then kill the temptation to go out and spend my travelling fund on overpriced and overcrowded nights out in Sydney.
Yesterday was one of the best days i have had here so far. My mate Jamie, another intern in Sydney managed to get 2 tickets for
an AFL game, Sydney Swans vs the Melbourne roos. For $20 a ticket i wasnt really expecting much, however it turned out to be one of the most mental, unorganised, caotic and fun game I have seen. Not only that but it was at the Sydney Crickeyt Ground which was very cool, and made me think towards the ashes and going to see the cricket there. So this game was at 1 and a sports event would not be the same without a few bevvies going down, and seeing as though Jamie and myself are living in Syndey we decided to adopt the Swans, or swanies as i like to call them, as our team and managed to get our hands on a paper clapper, which seemed to be very popular and very noisy. Throughout the whole game I still dont know what i was cheering, or jeering, for but it was cool to get involved and the atmosphere was brilliant, very australian. So after the game, which we (the swannies) won 85-55, still not sure how or why, we decided to carry the night on, at 4 so a few more beers with some pool at a local bar,
still using the paper clappers as the novelty of something new still hadnt worn off. So we left the bar and headed back to my flat for some pre night drinks, which Jamie decided to play some of the mot god awful music possible, only the threat of throwing him off the balcony stopped beiber fever going on and the theme tune of Twilight. Anyway the nights actions were all decided by the toss of a coin, heads or tails which meant a very random night, with a few exclusions and expulsions from a couple of bars due to general nakedness and odd behaviour but probably the best sunday I have ever had, (if Carlsberg did Sunday drinking sessions....).
Ah enough about playtime, I am actually over here for a reason. Part of my job is involving SEO, search engine optimization. Which simply means trying to gain traffic to our websites and have our name higher up the search engines. Anyway part of this was for me to create a youtube presentation, which if anyone is bored or has 2 minutes spare can have a quick butchers;
. So at the moment I am really enjoying what
i am doing, and i feel i am learning new experiences every day which is the main reason i am here at the moment, so it feels very worthwile so far. And actually this weekend I will be attending a sales and training conference, paid for by my company, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm not sure if this is the path I am looking for with my career but it's free, so well worth a look for atleast the experience.
Thats about it for now, i will update when i have anything interestng to write about again, doing a daily blog about getting up and going to work isnt quite going to have the same effect.
Take care
