Melbourne, the Grand Prix and St. Patrick's day;
The Saint Patrick’s day ‘Irish holiday,’ Port Melbourne was the word.
Squeezing onto a packed tram, the locals were flocking to the emerald bars. Minutes earlier a frantic eleventh hour search for green hair spray proved fruitful. I teamed-up with Gerry, Kieran and Joe, Irish friends living in Sydney. A line longer than a flight path greeted us at Sullivan's...............................................................
Ulluru THE CROWN JEWEL IN AUSTRALIA;
The following morning I was able to scramble up the rock. A continuous chain linked with steel poles every two meters for assistance. Friendly banter with other climbers. Challenging, “I’ll race you to the top,” with mainly those who were struggling, breathing heavy. The climb is a gradual slope, the surface surprisingly smooth. A magnificent view, red sand, green bush, large peaks..................................
