'Charlies Angels!''Charlies Angels!''Charlies Angels!'

Ye right!!???
A BIG hello to everyone at home and a BIG apology for the delay in the blog articles but we have been having the time of our lives here in OZ..is that a good enough excuse??

Right it's my job now to fill you all in on our antics during the month of July! I would love to say that this will be short and sweet but i'm afraid not so make yourself comfortable. Here goes.....

By July we had found our feet, as in we had settled into our wee house and we had all got some/a bit of work! So the weeks were just flying in now that we were in some kind of routine. July started with us all going to training (yes football training..still can't believe i'm saying that I was at football training!) and we had heard about an American Themed 4th of July fancy dress that Mc Anallens were organising. So the girls and I had some great ideas as to what we were going to dress up as and there was an endless list of ideas coming from Louise and Deidre McCooey back home in the emerald isle! Anyhow the travelling trio wanted to dress up as the same thing and after much deliberation we decided to be Charlies Angels. So off we went the week before the fancy dress to get kitted out! We were so excited we chose our outfits..and in fairness they looked great! We went to footie training on the Tuesday and by the sound of it everyone was heading..had the makings of a great night! We opted not to go to training on the Thursday as we had to collect our outfits in 'Fancy scmancy' in the junction. The girls and I met after work and went into get our frocks...BUT..off course nothing is ever plain sailing for us!! The lady behind the counter only had two Charlies Angels outfits for us..so we were back to square one the night before the fancy dress! Nightmare!! We were so disappointed but had to get the thinkin hats on again..we chatted to the lady for ages deciding on what/who we should be..as were adamant we were dressing up and not going in our normal clothes. After about 2 hours the lady in the shop had us convinced that 'milk maid' outfits would be a good idea and that apparently Charlies Angels had worn something simliar! So we left with three milk maid outfits trying to convince ourselves that it was American themed and that Charlies Angels had worn something similiar! Yeah right!! Teehee

Friday 4th of July came about and we were like children when we came home from work. We got ready and had a few giggles at the state of each other! The lads from Dundalk arrived at our house dressed up as cheerleadrers which was hiliarious. Lisa Fox came as the naked cowboy which was priceless!! The craic was so great in the house that the ones at the fancy dress thought we werent heading and rang to see where we were! So off we went to get taxi's...contemplating if asked what we are..would we say the american themed 'Charlies Angels' or the pitiful 'Milk maids'!!! We decided on 'Charlies Angels' for that night anyhow! The night went from good to great to get me off the dance floor!! We had such a fab night, everyone made such an effort to dress up and we spent the whole night on the dancefloor! Some of the outfits were amazing..we seen the Ghostbusters, Venus and Serena Williams, Cowboys, Indians, The Village People and lots more.. It honestly was a brilliant night!

So Saturday morning came..loved the thought of a lie in BUT again the travelling trio have an action packed diary so that didn't happen! Miss Roisin McKay and Miss Deidre Rawdon (the Melbourne floosies) were arriving..we were all so excited to see them! They landed safe and sound and we sat listening to the tales of their travels..we had a great day catching up with the girls and we decided to take them out to PJ O'Briens in the city that night. Again lots of catching up and dancing was carried out..great night all round again!! (I'm seeing a trend here...we have had very few/if any, bad nights out!). The girls and I decided to give football a miss that Sunday..the ladies still managed to win..not sure how when their three star players were missing!!! Teehee! The word on the street was that all the McAnallens ones were headin out that night to the Rocks, so we had dinner in the Cock and Bull and met the others at the Rocks and again sang and danced the night away! So most of us were up an away

to work the next day whilst Roisin and Deidre were either shopping or planning their trip up the coast..lucky things! The girls had a nice few days with us in Sydney and then they got their flight to Cairns to meet the boys and travel down the coast.

The next weekend we had planned on having a quietish one. We went whale watching on the Saturday. It was one of those 'most do' things in Sydney. Basically we all got on the boat for one and half hours to see one whale 'peep' out of the water a few times. On route back to Darling Harbour the girls and I were so so sick on the boat..the water was so rough. Needless to say when we got off we just wanted to get home and have a quiet one. That weekend we made our weekly appearance down at the Rocks, sang and danced our littles hearts out!

The next thing on the agenda for me was that my big bro and sister in law were in Sydney! They arrived from Melbourne on Monday 14th July! I was so excited about seeing them..they arrived about 11 and we had

tea, scones and shared stories for a few hours! Then Dana's brother Jason who had been in Perth arrived. The weather was great that day so we took a stroll down to Bondi Beach and we done the Coastal walk. The views were amazing and thankfully the weather stayed sunny. That night Dana's friend from home Peter Hughes from Blackwatertown booked us a table at Ripples restaurant down at Milsons Point. We all made our way there not realising where it was. I swear it has to be one of the nicest views I have had of Sydney since I have arrived. It was right on the water, with the lights of the city and Opera house right behind us and the Harbour bridge just above our heads...it was just stunning!! The most delicious meal and wine were to follow...it was a great night! From fine dining at Milsons Point to roughing it in Scruffy Murphys! I had to take Ciaran, Dana and Jason to Scruffy Murphy's...its another must do! The rest of the week was spent doing alot of touristy things, the Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour, the Opera house, Taronga Zoo and some shopping! Also managed a wee night in the Tea gardens and Hurricanes in Bondi beach to try out their rack of ribs...yummy!!!I had such a great time with Ciaran, Dana and Jason-It was just so good to see them again and to get wee bits and pieces from home (especially the chocolate). Really didnt want to see them leave but I waved to them as they drove off in their taxi...only to return again one hour later as their flight had been cancelled! I was so excited to see them again..it was great to get to spend another night with them both! We ended up sitting in that night and having a quiet one and then they left the next day to fly to Bangkok.

I would love to say we had a quiet one that weekend but you'll never believe what I'm going to say???!!!! Whilst I was away entertaining my brother and sister in law for the week the other two ladies were flat out organising CHRISTMAS!!! Christmas in July we like to call it over here!! I got my secret santa name so there I was in the middle of July going to buy a Christmas present! Hiliarious!!! So 'Christmas day' came anyhow. We were up early getting the veg prepared and getting the bird in the oven..we had the traditional turkey but it wasn't the same as the turkey back in Finulagh. We didn't kill it, pluck it our clean it out oursleves (sorry daddy!). It was still lovely all the same! Everyone arrived with their pressies and the Christmas tunes were on! The dinner was all cooked, served and polished off in no time..it was scrumptious!! We then exchanged pressies with quite a few funny ones and some really lovely ones which some of us will treasure for a long time. We then had Angies gorgeous Banoffee and needless to say after that most of us werent fit to move so we didn't venture anywhere that night.

I started my teaching the following week...and got my eyes open to educating in Australia! Very very different to home. Before long again it was the weekend and Roisin and Deidre were back in town after having done the East Coast. They arrived back on the Friday night glowing with their tan after their trip but wrecked after their very long drive. They powered on anyway and we went out to the Tea Gardens that night..great banter and craic all round!

Right thats a brief outline of what we got up to in July (well as brief as I could make it)! Teehee

Missing you all loads at home. Lots of love and hugs from Sydney,
Claire xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
