Australia's highest mountain!

As it was Canberra Day (and a long weekend), we headed off to the Snowy Mountains - which are not at all snowy at this time of year- to do some walking and enjoy the autumn weather. It was grey the day we arrived, and pouring with rain the day we left, but on Sunday we had fabulous weather - a clear blue sky and hot sunshine. We took the chair-lift from Thredbo village to the Eagles Nest, and from there walked first to the Kosiosko lookout to get a glimpse of Australia's highest mountain (really more of a bump than a mountain, but it's the highest point on the continent!), before following the track across the ridgeline and through Dead Horse Gap, back down to the valley and back along the river to Thredbo. We're saving climbing Mount Kosiosko itself for a weekend in late April...
