Encountered Little Corella on way to pick up car. White, short white crest. Bare blue eye skin. Beer.
Oct 25. Mullum - the dark side. Shop owner called police. Cop brutish. I ignored. Then tall bloke red cap who'd been hassling me for days broke flag stick and peeled off sticker from car. I stuck another after he'd left. He came back and peeled off second. When owner, who requested sticker returned, I stuck third and he drove off. Gave 'Echo' newspaper sticker and press release. Got out of town. Motored thru Murwillimbah to Wollumbin (Cook's Mt. Warning). Ascent. Giant trees, bird calls. Up. Up. Below summit purple flowers scattered on path. Chain rail for rock climb. Atop. Butterflies. Blue skies and the whole vast crater below. Border ranges. Byron to Gold Coast view. Flag flew. Young girl from Bankstown got sticker. Descent a thigh workout. Brown Cuckoo-Dove with grey wings and long wide tail. Murwillimbah spruik and HOT SHOWER, beer. Barman gave me a beer. Then $10 all mains. I had prawns, steak, mash & veg. Comment: bamboo stick when broken snaps back. 8.8 km walk - sleep well tonight.
Oct 26. Australian Wood Duck on the Tweed. Muscle soreness from waist to ankles. Spruik Mur'bah. Old story - some love, some hate me. Good result but. Photo (new hat) and interview for Tweed daily. Drove Kingscliff and watched osprey at their nest above coast guard station.
