So today is the day. Donna has finally packed. The bags are under weight. Off we go, kids and babysitter (Aunty Sue) to Moruya airport for a 10.15 flight.

We are fairly early; as 10.15 approaches it is obvious that the flight will be full; Denis, Rex's number one customer service operator, is worried because lots of people have baggage (usually most people only have a briefcase). Something happened on the 7.30am flight which has left lots of extra people floating around Moruya.

He suggests that we might need to leave our baggage behind, which sounds extreme but isn't a problem because there is another flight coming in an hour to fix the problems from earlier this morning. He talks about bumping everyone's baggage which will cause some problems. We are in no hurry (next flight is at 4pm) so suggest he leave us (and our bags) off, and then everyone else can go at the normal time.

Brilliant suggestion. The kids head off to school with much tears - suck it up Donna - and we settle in for a 2 hour wait in Moruya. It isn't cutting things fine at the other end because of the original flight times, but when we arrive at Sydney, we are met at the plane by a porter who carries us and our luggage straight through a secret gate, and drives u staight to international departures. Sensational!

Oh and by they way....we were the first people at Moruya airport going to Iceland. Dennis (customer service) strongly suhggested that we re-confirm our return journey at the REX counter at Kaflavik! I wonder if he is serious
