First of all I would like to announce we are still alive, despite the flooding and forest fires that are following behind us. We are safe 😊

After 400 million years, the Blue Mountains have not changed much, so we are told. In fact, we watched a film on a massive screen saying scientists found prehistoric pine trees that were thought to have been extinct over 65 million years ago. The chance of discovering these trees in such an enormous area, was like finding a small dinosaur in a forest! Now that would be something! The location of these pine trees are top secret, for their preservation.
From Echo Point, these ancient forests and mountains can be seen, as well as the famous Three Sisters :D Not far from the Blue Mountains are the fairytale-like Jenolan Caves. Kiama and Ilana went to the most popular cave, Lucas, where John and Catherina visited 19 years ago. The sights inside were spectacular! Hundreds of glittering stalagmites and stalactites, calcites and limestone 'sculptures'.
