OZ bus
HA cheesee Done loads of travelling since we left on the oz bus!!! just a little tatster..a 15k hike...saw wild roo's and wombats and a squeeky beach..
We had to get up at about half 5 to catch the Oz bus around 6ish..char's alarm didnt go off she she was woken up to shell ringing her waiting down stairs ready!! She was rushing around like crazy woman and got in a right state, shoved on some clothes and dragged her bags down the stairs..where Shell was waiting outside luckily we managed to get on the bus around half 6..ooopsie! So we started off on bad terms with Jane (our Oz driver) she didnt seem to bad but later we found out she really didnt like us as you will find out..
Anyway we drove, stopped off for some brekkie then had to introduce ourselves to the rest of the bus..we had a few canadians, english, sweedish and a korean girl oh and some germans.. we were pretty young and loud so they kinda stuck together..and us english stuck together with a couple of the canadians. We had a right laugh at the back of the bus, and had Jane getting more and more
In Wilson Prom
Us and the Wombat!! annoyed with us when we wrote all over the outside of the bus 'i wish my girlfriend was this dirty'..haha..o well!
We stopped at a place called Wilsons Promotory..a massive National park where all the wilds animals are protected..hmm not so much when we got there! We chased after a wombat, had about a 1000 pictures taken with it and even started patting it (some hugging) and eventually drove it mad with all the flashing and it went in its burrow. Then we found some wild grey kangaroos so we all ran after them and tryed to get pictures with them close up..although they were much faster then the wombats so we had no chance in getting cuddles with them! And the Emu's..well to be honest we were a bit scared of them but they were way to fast so we had no chance.
So that was our bit of exercise of the day running after wild animals..but ooo no we had just got started. We drove to another bit of Wilsons Prom and had a 5k hike to a lookout point which eventually got you to Squeeky beach. It took us a while.. we hadnt had much exercise in
the past..well 2 months at least lol but the lookout was pretty kool and sqeeky beach actually sqeeked. Something to do with the sand particles rubbing together.. bit of knowledge for you all! We took time out here then headed back to the bus. Next stop was Lakes Entrance.
We arrived about 7 and of course we went straight to the bottle shop to get some goon! Then we headed to the resturant had a few glasses (it was BYO) had a lush dinner then went to the hostel round the corner where we shared with sophie in a 3 bed and the guys slept in the room opposite. (Hostels rule..this was strange to us as there normally mixed!) We drunk more goon then bed..we had another early start of 6am..we couldnt wait..
Had free brekkie (and took advantage of the orange juice by filling our bottles up with it) and got on the bus half asleep. We slept until we got rudely awakened by Jane telling us to get out and walk across the border of Victoria and NSW. Giving her evils and swearing behind her back we all traipsed off and she drove off! We all just stood
there like what's going on and too asleep to run after her but she eventually stopped and we all had so much fun walking across the border..it was a great experience. By the time we got back on the bus we were wide awake..we found that we were in some mountains driving (a bit fast if you ask me - i swear our trailor nearly swung off) round these sharp bends to a place called Jindabyne. This is where the Aussies go skiing from around July to September..but obviously it was summer so we had the great pleasure of going hiking! Char had no trianers and struggled enough the day before doing the 5k hike in flip flops (or thongs) let alone a 15k hike!! Luckily sophie, a girl we met was fed up with hiking and refused to do it so Char used hers..just the right size!
We set off in good spirits..kind of.. and even crossed the lake on stepping stones with no accidents! Everyone else seemed to be proper hikers and we got left behind straight away apart from our english friends sam and scott. We got to the Blue Lake..and to be honest it was very
disapointing..we didnt see what the fuss was about so we thought Hey..lets go down and swim in it! This took longer then we thought and had to have a few photo shoots on the way of course.. we got down there and the water was freeeezing! So we resulted to just paddling our feet in and had another photo shoot. It was time to go back and we looked up the mountain and though ooo god how are we going to get back up there (bearing in mind there was no path as you werent actually allowed to do this). Char lead the way..think shes actually a secret fan of hiking.. and got us back to the path. It was down hill for a bit so we though ahh this is ok we can handle this then we saw the stepping stones again and saw THE hill. Shell had a mini heart attack on the way back up this final major steep hill and to top things off she fell in the lake on the last stepping stone so had to climb it with a wet trainer. Was funny for the rest of us though hehe. We eventually got to
the top..only an hour or so late with everyone waiting for us and giving us evils. Char had an argument with Jane who now hated us even more for holding up the whole bus and tryed to make us feel guilty. O well! Least we could say we'd been in the Blue Lake hehe!
We got to the hostel/motel in Jindabyne..it was pretty much luxury compared to what we normally get. Double beds, t.v,fridge, kettle and free tea, coffee and biscuits in our room! Woop! We took full advantage of it all..and the swimming pool and spa!! Char found out she had done something pretty bad to her leg and hobbled around like an old lady..all that damned hiking! We had a big dinner, played some pool then bed..as yes we had another early start..i suppose 7am isnt as bad though.
Valentines day today..we had to get up and spend about 8hours on the bus...ahhhhh! although shell did buy some love heart sweets and did share the love...haha! Next stop was to the countries capital city, Canburra. We went to the Houses of Parliament and walked around there for a while (char 10 metres behind as her leg was still bad) and listened in on some issues the senate had which caused a bit of an argument! We got into it whilst this was happening but soon lost interest..it got a bit boring but it was good to see..especially if your a fan of all that! We drove around in the bus for a bit to see the sights of canburra, stopped for lunch and went to a war memorial and a look out then left for sydney - our final stop.
We started panicking a bit as we didn't have anywhere to sleep that night - everywhere was fully booked, but apprently the hostel we booked eventually had bed bugs.. we were okay thou! we met up with lucy and went out for something to eat then danny came along (friend we met in sydney before) and we had a few drinks in the good old Side bar - nothing major thou! we were knackered and char still had a bad leg from all that immense hiking up the mountain so we werent in the best moods to go out and do some crazy dancing 😞!
