Well Palm Beach was fab..... didnt see any H&A filming which I was hugely disappointed about but I did get to see the surf club with Alf Stewarts name on it, bonus!! I did want to do some replays of some H&A scenes but Alen wasn't so keen so I didn't push it too far!!
We also took a trip up the Blue Mountains for a night camping and decided to bring Emily & Conor with us, they had never been camping so we thought this was a great idea! We set up camp in a campsite in Katoomba and decided to be very cultural and take the 1 and a half hour trip to the Jenolan Caves..it was all going great until Joey (the van!) started making a back firing noise everytime we were going up a hill! I of course started to panic because we were in the middle of nowhere, we had no signal on our phones and we had somebody elses kids with us!!! It also wasn't helping that the kids in the back were sayin "Shelly, why is Joey making them noises...he sounds a bit sick!" So we decided to keep going at 20km an
hour all the way to Jenolan Caves, praying to God that the engine would get us there! Luckily we got there and the NRMA (the AA) came out and fixed it so we could get back to Katoomba, and then we had to get it fixed properly when we got back to Sydney. We also went to Scenic World in Katoomba which was skyways and cable cars all across the mountains and that was really lovely. (will put up pics soon!)
The next few days were spent waiting for Mags, Frank and my Granda to arrive... it was like Royalty coming so we were cleaning, shopping, hoovering etc. ... We were like Elaines little helpers!! Finally they arrived and yes I must admit there was tears again... happy tears though this time! During the week they were hear myself and Al finally got to climb the harbour bridge, after 3 attempts it was definitely worth the wait, it was unreal.
So our time was up in Sydney and we had to pack up and leave......(took me forever, bought way too much stuff in Sydney) , we had to say bye to Mick and Lorna who were looking for
a place to rent to live in Sydney for 6 months. Finally we were on our way up the coast... first stop Port Stephens with all the family!! Now the family like to call themselves the fockers from previous holidays in Oz so myself and Al were welcomed in to the Focker Family at an official family dinner! So there we are 13 of us in this beautiful mansion, Myself & Al, Elaine, Tam & Kids, Mags & Frank, Rose & George, Marie, Sam and Grandad for a whole week! First day there myself, Al, Mam, Dad, Sam & Emily all went see kayaking, which was great crack. While the rest were in kayaking myself and mam took out this sea pedal boat and had to bring it down the other side of the beach for the guy, but as we tried to park it up, a wave came from under us and i fell out while Mags sat in it drifting back out wetting herself laughing at me!! Priceless!
On the third day we rented two boats for the day and we all went out fishing. The lads caught loads of fish but were whimps when it came to
un-hooking them and putting them back in the sea! We also saw dolphins that day too which was pretty cool!
Another one of the days myself and Al went on this "Thunderaft" boat, a boat that jumps waves and goes 110km an hour, it was brill. We then met up with the others and we all went Dolphin watching. Saw a few dolphins and then went in the boom net ( literally a rope type net attached to the side of the boat).. this was hilarious coz you couldn't sit properly on the rope so you were just hanging on for dear life while the captain sped up the boat and had a laugh at our expense, the screams of myself, Mam and Elaine was apparently deafening!!! All in all port stephens was brill, loads to do and was a great week with the fockers! we left there on Saturday to keep heading up the coast while the others headed back to Sydney there was tears again... alot.....very similar to Dublin airport actually!
Myself and Al then headed up to a place called Forster to camp for the night , there was a river behind our site so we
done a bit of fishing ( Uncle George taught Alen how to fish in Port Stephens) ...didn't catch anything, well thats a bit of a lie, Al was casting back at one stage and accidentally ( so he says!) caught the hook in my back!!! There was no blood or anything but I was screaming because of the drama of it all ... very funny thinking back about it now!
Next stop was Port maquarie which was a lovely seaside town , had a nice relaxing time there, waves on the beach were massive so done some body boarding there. We then took a detour through a lovely little place called South West Rocks and then headed on up to Coffs Harbour, which is were we are now. Lovely place and the capsite is fab, decided to treat ourselves this time and we got a cabin for the 2 nights instead of the tent...really living it up in this trailor, has a kitchen and everything! went to a water fun park this morning which was cool and just going to chill out later and cook a BBQ! We meant to bring the leads for the cameras to update our
photos but forgot so we will do that very soon.
Hope the snow doesn't get too heavy!
