HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY JOHNNY - bet you're having a whale of a time in the sunny isle of man!!!!!!!! looking forward to celebrating with you later in the summer - didn't you get an invite to Queenies ?

Well what a couple of days I've been subjected to - carl did exaggerate a wee bit on the sleeping front around sydney - it was just 2min shut-eye to repower the batteries - but unfortunately he kept catching me out !!!!!!! (I think you all know that's not quite true either!)

Anyway - 2nd day of Oakey tours started well - packed up from our gorgeous downtown sydney hotel, picked up our hire car and headed into the blue mountains - it was fab althought the sudden whiplash moments of carl trying to remember he didn't have a clutch got a bit frustrating.
It was just like the Glens of Antrim but a much bigger scale !!! stopped at Wentworth falls and hiked down to the falls to be slightly dissappointed - there's more water in the glens than out here - perhaps it's more impressive in a few more months ! the walk back was a bit tricky but

not looking forward to the climb back up!
did us good to do some exercise - I'm bursting out of most of my clothes now !!!
then headed for Leura & Katoomba to Echo Point to see the 3 sisters - absolutely fab - although full of yanks talking at the top of their voices (why do they think they're the only people on the planet?) then did the rickety old railway down to the forest floor - scary ride through the middle of a gorge - carl was struggling to fit in the train though - rather funny - he had to sit side-saddle !!!!! due to his height obviously
watched the sun set over the moutains and then headed for the next major town - Lithgow - what a culture shock - you could have imagined the cowboys and horses rattling down the main street - we were too tired to carry on so stopped at the motel on the high street - let's just say the princess wasn't a princess that night !!!! what a shocker !!!!! I have never been anywhere so disgusting ! stains on the carpet ! luckily the bathroom light wasn't working so we asked to change rooms - which meant an upgrade ! slight improvement but the blind didn't cover the whole window - it was minging !!!!!! he treated me to fish & chips and a schooner in the strangest local pub with loads of wierdos in 80s shellsuits - talk about a timewarp - worse nights sleep of my life - it was like a monster trucks show was outside our window - that's when we realised not to stay anywhere right next to a main crossroads

BRING BACK GRAY TOURS !!!!!!!

anyway I kept smiling - well I had to as carl found it all sooooo funny ! - we drove most of the day to get to the coast today, went through the Aus equivalent of the North East (Newcastle, morpeth, stockton, hexham etc.) - very wierd- we were expecting Jingo to pop up at any moment.

now in Nelson Bay at Port Stephens which is gorgeous and I picked the accomodation this time - got a veranda and a rooftop pool !
princess reinstated - I think I'm taking over the tour now !
hope you're all well - starting to miss you all now but not enough to come home yet !!
lots of love
